Your (E/C) eyes stared out the window of the school bus as it bounced over a few bumps on the road. Your headphones playing (F/S) drowned out the noisy chatter of the kids that sat either a few seats in front, behind, or beside you. Rain splattered on the window, the sky matching your mood of the day. Your head lightly hit the window as the bus hit some bumps.

Eventually, your bus stopped in front of your home, and you got off your seat, ignoring glares from a few students and whispers from others. Silently thanking the bus driver, you got off and headed towards the house.

Your mother's voice echoing from the living room welcomed your ears when you stepped in. She didn't see you as she was on the phone with someone important, even as you trudged up the stairs to your room. Placing your backpack beside your desk, you sat down on the desk seat and began working on one of your projects for your science class.

That's the thing. You were a smart girl, enrolled in science and wielding classes. You picked up inventing and creative hobbies because of your father, who loved you dearly since you were born. You looked up to him like he was your superhero. One time, you wanted to try (F/S), but your mother wasn't too keen on that idea. Nevertheless, your father wasn't one to say no to his little girl. You smiled at those memories before continuing to work on your homework.

Laying down on your bed later in the evening, you glanced at your side and smiled softly at the picture of you and your father when you were younger, 7 years, to be exact. A car crash caused by a drunk driver took away his life in less than a second. You remember your cries shattering the sky as you watched the paramedics take away his body.

You turned away from the picture, just as the tears began falling from your eyes. You missed him more than anything in the world. You'd give anything to see him again...

"(Y/N)! Dinner's ready!" Your mother called from downstairs.

Sighing, you got up and readied yourself for what's to come.

"I don't even know why you're bothering to take those classes. It's not good for a woman to do those things..." Your mother ranted as you ate your food. You didn't bother listening to her, even as she was chastising you about your hobbies and the classes you're taking.

She's been like this ever since your father started teaching you how to repair things, but you wished that she'd support you rather than reprimanding you for doing what you love. Besides, it reminds you so much of your father.

"(Y/N), are you even listening to me?" Your mother asked you.

"I wish I wasn't..." you mumbled under your breath.

"What did you say, young lady?" Your mother sternly asked.

"I'm saying that maybe you'd be more understanding and supportive, instead of ranting at me about what I love to do," you spoke a bit louder. Even though you knew your mother would be angry, you didn't care about that right now.

"Are you being rude right now?"

"I wouldn't call it rude. I'm just saying you need to please lay off me and let me do what I love to do and for Dad," you defended yourself.

"Don't bring that up right now, young lady," your mother lectured you. "A lady shouldn't be doing those things when there are other things for girls like you to do."

"What? Things that you want me to do? I'm not going to give up the things that remind me of Dad, and that's final!" You pushed yourself off the chair and stomped up to your room.

Ignoring your mother's demands to come back, you slammed the door shut and threw yourself on the bed just as the tears began to free themselves from your eyes.

Your thoughts roamed around as you wondered why your mother had the right to discriminate against you for your hobbies and how your father taught you them when you were younger. If only she could understand. You couldn't see things the way she does.

Even when it was getting late, you refuse to leave the room to face your mother. You were too exhausted from the crying to get up from the bed. Eventually, your eyes closed, and you drifted off into dreamland...

Loud chattering brought you out from your slumber. You opened your eyes and found yourself surrounded by numerous people. The strange thing is...they all have prosthetic parts. Arms, legs,  around their neck, anywhere else on their bodies.

It was at that moment they started cheering on someone. You gently moved past a few people, some of them chanting someone's name. By the time you got to the front of the crowd, your eyes landed on a young man. You couldn't see him clearly, but he saw you amongst the crowd and gave a soft smile before he outstretched his hand to you. Right before you could take hold of it...

Your eyes snapped open, and you bolted up on your bed, gasping. It had all seemed so real, yet it was only a dream. Or was it?
