"Among Us? I've heard of it, yeah." I responded, my character pacing back and forth throughout the long corridor.
While Tomura formed his answer, I went online to search the game's download. However, it costed five dollars on Steam, and I wasn't sure if Tomura was willing to pay. "Never mind." he complained, not wanting to spend money on a game like that.
I had a few extra bucks, but I really wasn't staying in budget. "It's okay, I have a job now anyways." I thought, trying to come up with good reasons to why I should lend Tomura a hand.
Switching back to the game tab, I then typed. "What's your Steam name?"
"I said never mind." he argued, picking up a nasty attitude.
I groaned and rolled my eyes back, done with his constant temper. "I'll gift you it, so we can both play. Happy now?" I typed.
Thankfully, he dropped the attitude, happily accepting my present. Tomura gave me his Steam tag, which I then searched up. He wasn't a very active user, but he still had decent stats in popular free games. I wondered how he was able to afford Minecraft, but it was probably another gift.
After buying him the game, I sent it over to his account. My overall purchase was ten dollars, not much until you realize everything I've bought recently. I still had a decent amount of money, but my recent shopping spree was going to diminish that quickly. "Jeez.. No more spending for a whole month, (Y/N)." I mumbled, my eyes straining to see the screen's details better.
We logged onto the game, adding our go-to usernames. I switched back to Minecraft, hoping he would eventually check my latest message. "Wait, can you create a room?"
Our characters stood idle, until Tomura's began to move again. "Be patient."
His character finished its last jump, before Tomura sent a following message. "LRWDLQ."
I closed Minecraft's application tab, and used my memory to type in the given code. Once I joined the game, Tomura's character was pacing around the room, impatiently waiting for the round to start. His astronaut was colored with a shade of matte black, mine being (Y/F/C).
Tomura chose the crown hat, while I just chose whatever I liked best. Our room grew fuller by the second, eventually reaching the max amount of players. I had never played this game before, and neither had Tomura, so it excited me when I saw the text "There is 1 imposter among us."
I was innocent, a crewmate. Walking around and finishing my tasks, I really had no idea where I was going. One by one, my list of things to do turned green, the bar above making its way toward the end. The game spiked my fear, and caused me to run from everyone who came close.
I remembered Tomura choosing the color black for his character, and from the corner of my eye, I noticed him. His little, golden crown was undeniable. However, as I drew closer to where he was standing, I saw Tomura's character exit into a vent. "Huh?" I thought, not knowing what it could mean.
My character's miniature feet crossed over the same vent he exited out from, as I desperately tried to travel through it, but my attempts all resulted in fails. Disregarding the situation, I walked away from the scene and into another hallway. That's when I saw it, a dead body.
Passing over the corpse, a button appeared on my screen. "Report." it said.
"I mean, I guess?" I said, tilting my head to the side. After clicking the confronting button, a new GUI formed atop my screen. It listed all the players, and that's when I noticed only three of us were left. A stranger, Tomura, and me.
I went to the chat-box, instantly being interrogated by the other player, who chose my least favorite color to play as. "Where?" they asked.
The answer was on the tip of my tongue, that's when I got it. "Lower engine, I just found it."
Tomura stayed silent the entire time, but I was still so confused. "How could he travel through the vents?" I thought.
"Skip." the other player said, making me exit out of the chat-box and voting to skip. The three of us all voted, proving to me that Tomura wasn't idle.
I wandered aimlessly around the spaceship, my feet clanking against the metal floors. There was nothing else to do, now that I had finished all my tasks. Despite finishing my tasks, the green bar still wasn't full, so I came up with the conclusion that my teammate had to finish as well.
However, my peaceful stroll was ended abruptly with an announcement, declaring that the imposter has won. I flew back on my chair, puzzled about what just happened. "This game is so confusing." I complained.
As I continued to play, I slowly got used to the mechanics of the game. Turns out, Tomura was the imposter that first round, and was just saving me for last. Eventually, he had queued for imposter up to three times, while I had never been chosen.
Hours had passed, and the rest of the players left our lobby. We were planning to play more rounds, but absolutely nobody was joining. I yawned, my eyes burning from how dry they were. Before I left, I figured to pursue my current request for Tomura.
"Hey, what's your number?" I asked, Tomura becoming confused.
"Why? You seriously want my number?" Tomura responded, us hanging out in the chat-box together.
My fingers moved sluggishly, my body sulking on my padded seat. "Yeah! So we can talk to each other more often."
Tomura seemed hesitant, but eventually gave into my request. He gave me his number, which I quickly added into my list of contacts. I hopped off the fun game, then trudging towards my comfortable bed. Almond nuzzled quietly into my sheets, he had been napping ever since I began to play with Tomura.
I sent Tomura a text, which was followed by several others. We chatted for hours on end, sending silly sketches and playing with the message effects. Before I knew it, my eyes were shut, refusing to reopen. I fell asleep soundly, holding my now-overheating phone close to my heart.

authors note; i think the fact they fell asleep texting each other is so cute, along with the fact she was holding her phone close to her heart AWWW AHH
i don't play among us that often anymore but i thought it would be a cute idea to add it into this story, especially with the amazing fanart lol
