Muffled voices and a white blur where all Noelle could process as she started coming to. It was as if she were floating, nothing truly felt real yet she knew the reality of her situation. Her head was pounding, her entire body felt like lead as the memories of previous events flooded though her mind. It was only then she realized the blob was caused by her eyes being squeezed closed. They slowly peeled open to find Jaxon sitting at her side, head turned to face Blair who was standing in the far right corner. Her arms were crossed over her chest with her piercings glinting in the small bit of light as she spoke. Alexianna was sitting in the muddle of the two against the wall, face halfway buried in her arms which were resting on her knees. There was an air of guilt around her for obvious reasons and, while she wasn't angry, Noelle couldn't help but feel the slightest bit glad that Alex realized her mistake. For such a sweet girl she sure was into some dark stuff.

"Are you alright?"

The sudden voice startled the young girl and she whipped her head around to stare at the new faces. There were two girls standing on the other side of her bed, watching the scene unfold. One had bone-straight hair as white as snow. Her skin was fair aside from the large burn mark over the left side of her face, accompanied by a large, jagged, scarred slash starting directly underneath her left eye and ending just above the center of her chin. Her eyes were bright blue. So bright, in fact, that they seemed to glow. She was definitely fit, this was obvious at first glance. Maybe she was an athlete? The flowing white dress she wore matched her hair perfectly, giving her a purely angelic look that brought peace to the entire room. Noelle felt herself sinking lower into her mattress at the feeling of comfort.

She glanced to the figure on the right of the first girl and didn't exactly know what to think. Her pitch black, wavy hair was hip length, just like the white-clad girl. She also had a scar,  however hers started slightly to the left of her forehead, tilting just enough to reach the center of the right side of her jaw. Her skin was an olive complexion as opposed to the other's, with lighter, rather large spots scattered on her face and chest. She had a thick black choker wrapped around her neck as well as an almost identical dress on. The only difference was it was just as black as her hair. Her black nails were filed into an almost coffin shape, not reaching far above her fingertips. However what struck Noelle to where she couldn't look away were this girl's eyes. Pure black, absolutely no white, as if her pupil dilated much too much and took over her entire eye.

All signs pointed to something very strange about these girls and yet she felt no fear. Both brought her a strange sense of comfort as if something was letting her know there was nothing to fear. A soft smile laid on the lips of the white-haired girl, while the other maintained a neutral expression. All Noelle could find herself able to do is just barely nod. "Good. I'm glad to hear it."

"What were you thinking?" The black-clad one scolded. "Do you have any idea how dangerous that was? You're lucky we were there or you could've been killed!" There  was a hint of worry in her voice which only served to confuse the young girl. Did she know her?

As if sensing her confusion the other spoke again. "Pardon my manners. My name is Gabrielle Crowlynn and this is my sister, Lucy. We're your guardians." Confusion gleamed in Noelle's eyes before Gabrielle continued her explanation. "I'm sure you've heard of guardian angels?" She gave a slight nod. "Well, that legend is only halfway true. While humans are assigned an angel, they are also assigned a demon. Don't let that scare you, the legends of demons you've heard are those of rogues. Not pure demons. See, they're truly not evil. They only see things differently. They help with decision-making and coping with the darkness the world contains. Angels, like myself, also help with decision making, however we are tasked with making sure to bring something good for every bad situation or event. We bring balance and peace. However, our main objective is your protection from this world as well as ours."

"What you encountered last night," Lucy took over the explanation, "was a rogue, meaning a demon who succumbed to darkness and the evil it brings. They're the ones who attack humans, just as it tried to last night. For some reason, you seemed to be its main target. So we took action. However as you were losing consciousness you uttered a mantra which gave you the ability to see us."

"Yes, that's correct. I believe it also gave us the ability to take on a physical form, at least for certain periods of time. It seems we did while we were fighting, your friends made that very clear." When the sisters turned their attention back to Noelle, they noticed the confusion had fled as well as all her color, terror taking its place. Gabrielle started again hurriedly, "No no no don't worry! He vanished once he realized what happened. He isn't here anymore. Our physical forms are far stronger than our spiritual alone."

"He felt the impending doom and ran," Lucy muttered, chuckling at the confused glance she earned from Gabrielle. "Why are you looking at me like that? I'm right."

The angel in question only sighed, shaking her head with an amused smile before turning back to the young still practically paralyzed girl on the bed. Realization struck and her eyes widened, an apologetic look making its way into the angel's eyes. "Oh, Noelle! I'm so so sorry, I forgot seeing us this way would put you into sleep paralysis!" Lucy's laughter was ignored as, all of a sudden, Gabrielle's white hair faded to teal, the glow in her eyes fading and her clothes changing into a white cami-top, faded pink cardigan, and light blue skinny jeans with brown ankle boots. The white-rose flower in her hair brought out her blue eyes very nicely.

Lucy followed suit, her hair gaining a red pigment. Her dress turned into a black loose sweater overtop a white collared button-up with dark bootcut jeans and black combat boots. Dark sunglasses appeared to cover her still-black eyes, completing the look.

As she suddenly regained the ability to sit up, she noted that though both girls changed many things about their appearances their blemishes and scars remained. "I don't understand. If you can change yourselves to look however you want, why not fix your scars?"

The sisters shared a look and Noelle almost regretted asking before they looked back at her. "Because they don't matter," Lucy began. "I mean, if anything, I feel like they're signs of both mental and physical strength."

"I agree. They don't take beauty away from us, not that it would matter. If anything they add to it."

Noelle smiled, finding herself admiring the supernatural figures in front of her. That is, before she was interrupted by Jaxon.

"Woah! When did they get here?!"

She turned around to find all eyes on her guardians. She turned back to Lucy when she heard a small laugh escape her.

"Howdy, kids," she smiled. "How's it going?"
