After getting over a severe load shock, I quickly prepared for the day. Took a quick shower, wore my uniforms, put blood bags in my bag (the usual) and went out for my classes. Me and Draco had missed breakfast in the morning due to our sleep schedule getting messed up the other night.
I closed my dorm door and started walking to Potions Class, which was one of my least favorite classes. As I was walking, I bumped into someone I didn't want to see first thing in the morning.
Connor Flint.
"Connor." I said dropping the two books I was holding in my hands. "What a nice surprise."
"Hello there gorgeous." he said dropping on the ground with me to pick up the books. Our heads bumped into each other. We both tried to grab the same book at the same second which made our hands touch. I quickly backed away my hand and stood up while Connor picked up my books and gave them to me.
"Thanks."
"No problem Hazel." He didn't seem to have anything to tell me, so I started walking away. "Hazel, wait." I turned around. He walked next to me, "I have a question."
"Yes?" I said being a little nervous.
"Would you like to join the Christmas dance with me?" he asked smiling.
Oh no. This was really really really bad. How was I going to reject Connor? I couldn't just betray Draco like that.
"Hazel?" Connor said disturbing my deep thoughts.
"Connor I-"
"Did he ask first?" Connor said cutting me off.
"What?" I said even though I knew exactly what he meant.
"Did Malfoy ask you first?"
I couldn't look at his face to answer.
"Hazel I'm talking to you." he said holding my chin up with his hand. "Look at me when I'm talking to you." he had a deeper voice this time.
"Y-yes Connor. H-he- he did."
"Oh-" he let go of the hand that was holding my chin up, which made my eyes drop down on the floor again. "What if I asked you first?"
"What do you mean?" this time I actually had no idea what he was asking.
"W-what if I asked you first, before Draco. Would you still choose me over him?"
"Connor..." I said not knowing how to answer his question.
"I got my answer." he said walking away. Then something stopped him, he turned around and came back to me. He held two of my cheeks and left a short yet aggressive kiss on my lips. "I love you Hazel Salvatore." he took a pause. "That's why I can not bear my own friend being closer to you than I am. I can't because I'm a selfish fool when it comes to you."
"Connor please-" I said trying to stop him.
"Just so you know, Draco is spending more time with Pansy Parkinson lately."
"What?" I said giving him my full attention.
"Since the day you were sick, in the hospital wing, he has been spending more time with her. Didn't you notice?" he asked me.
"N-no I didn't. How did... how did you notice?"
"I unfortunately have all my classes with Pansy, and half with Draco. They were both absent in each class."
I didn't answer him. Still trying to not overthink the situation. But Connor wouldn't help at all.
"Before you say, 'you misunderstood them Connor, Draco wouldn't do that to me.' I'm just gonna say, I knew Draco more than you knew him Hazel. I am the one who knows every single one of his hookups. Every single relationship he had, whether it was fake or real. I know his tricks, his lies, his mind. I know how his mind works."
Connor continued to give more and more reasons on why he knew Draco better. He was saying them too fast. Before I could think through one reason, he gave me another three.
"...if you ask me Salvatore, I'd get away from him before it's too late." he said and this time he actually walked away.
There I was, standing in the middle of the hallway with a blank, numb expression on my face as people continued to pass by me, bumping me. One single tear went down from my cheek. Then the rest stopped when I saw her. Bella.
"Bella!" I said running up to her, "Hey."
"Anything you want Stefanie?" she said not looking into my eyes.
"I want to apologize."
"How many times?"
"Bella-"
"It's not an apology if you keep doing the same thing over and over again Hazel."
"I know but, please try to understand me."
"I did Hazel. I tried so hard to understand you. But I never remember a single time you ignored your best friends advice and went against it." she was right. I couldn't deny facts. "Now I need to go to my classes." she said walking away.
I was sad. I was mad. I was regretful. I was hopeless. I was angry. And it all added up into one thing, hunger.
I held a student that passed by me by his arms. "Follow me. Don't speak." I compelled and started walking back to my dorm.
He entered my dorm with me. "Close the door." I ordered him. He did as he was told. "I am so sorry for this." I said as I dived in the taste of blood straight from the vein. The bittersweet blood. My favorite. The boy let out couple moans as I continued to harshly feed on him.
After I was done getting enough to calm me down, I healed the mysterious boy. I compelled him to forget anything happened and he left. For the rest of the day I didn't attend any of my classes. I sat down on my bed, every corner of my room making me remember Draco.
By now, I probably overthinked every word Connor has told me. I have officially made many scenarios in my head, that may or may not have happened.
The only thing I knew for sure was the fact of me not knowing anything about his past.
My ears heard a conversation from two people passing by my dorm,
"I'm glad you found the courage to ask me this time Ron, we both remember what happened in the yule ball."
"Speaking of the yule ball Hermione, do you remember when Draco asked Pansy. I wonder who he asked this time."
"Probably Pansy." they both giggled. "I should get ready Ron."
I stopped listening to the rest.
I had to show Draco that I was better than Pansy. I had to be confident today. I quickly got up from my bed and took out a mini red dress. I quickly held it on me in front of the mirror and immediately fell in love with the dress.
My mom and I got this dress together. My first time wearing it would be tonight. I didn't know how to feel about it. But I wore the dress and curled my hair. I put on light makeup and checked the time. I had 5 minutes until I was gonna go downstairs to the ball and meet Draco.
Possibly to get some answers.
I would usually get ready with Stefanie all the time. Each event we had in Mystic Falls High School, we would prepare for it together. This was also my first time priming myself without her.
As the minutes passed by, I went downstairs. I arrived at the ball room, it was so beautiful. The decorations were so neat and detailed. I looked around everywhere but didn't see a single person. 'Maybe I came early?' I thought to myself as I went around the room and admired the organization.
There were couple Christmas trees around. The room was decorated with white round tables with red chairs around them.
It's been 30 minutes but Draco still didn't show up. I consumed a whole bottle of drinks while waiting for him. Knowing a vampire couldn't get drunk. But it helped with the cravings. I slowly saw people come in the room. I guess it was time for the dance.
But Draco was still not here even though he told me to be an hour early.
