Chapter 32: Pair project

Throughout the week, Y/N hung out with Kana just like what Nami suggested. They would eat lunch together or just talk about random things.

Nami also made an effort to steer away from the two so they can have their privacy. Kana noticed that Nami was acting a bit distant but Nami would just shrug it off with a playful remark

"Aren't you happy? This means more time with Y/N ~ " Nami winked

"But aren't you going to the clubroom?"

"I have an emergency to attend so you two go on ahead."

Kana nodded in confusion and bid goodbye to Nami. Y/N heard their convo and she shot Nami a look of disapproval before following Kana

Nami playfully waved and her expression turned wistful once she was left alone

"What am I hoping for, exactly?"

"Hey, Y/N-chan."

Rui curiously gazed at Y/N who didn't notice his presence. He blocked her view which finally caught Y/N's attention.

"Wah- Rui."

"Why is it that you seem spaced out these days?" said Rui which made Y/N sigh

"Nothing much. I'm just confused about certain things."

"Like?" Rui sat next to Y/N as he listened

"Like how to help people." Y/N made a thinking expression. " I'm confused on how to help them since the situation is also confusing."

"Sugoi. You are really helpful." Rui stared in wonder. "You never really changed."

Y/N looked back at Rui

"Anyways, do you need something?"

"Well, you heard about the project by pair, right?"

Y/N hummed in response and Rui grinned

"Well, how about we pair?" He pointed to himself proudly. "I'm a great team mate."

"I thought you already have a partner?" said Y/N in confusion. Knowing Rui, a lot of their classmates are giddy to have him as their partner. Not because he is extremely smart, though he is reliable, but because this would give them a chance to get close to the Class Prince

"I turned them down. I only want you." Rui said in an overly sweet tone. " So please? Let's pair for this project?"

"Okay okay. Calm down already." Y/N shoved Rui who playfully tried to tackle her. " I guess Nami would pair with Kana so I'll just choose you."

"Yes!" Rui made a victory dance and Y/N couldn't help but chuckle at him

"When will we start? The only time we could concentrate is after classes."

"We could meet-up in weekends." Y/N mused. "That way, we will have more time."

"That's fine." Rui made a thinking expression. "But still.. the deadline is a few days from now, right? So we have less than a week to do it."

"Right." Y/N sighed at the reminder. "If we are to finish it, we have to spend like an overnight or something."

"Well then, why don't we stay in each other's homes?" Y/N blinked at the suggestion.

"Eh?"

"If we make the project in my home, I'll be fine with it." Rui shrugged. "You can invite Nami-san and Sumiya-san too."

"I guess that could work." Y/N pondered. "But will that be fine in your home?"

Rui smiled faintly. The situation in his household is a little complicated and Y/N was aware of this

"Give me a minute." Rui fished out his phone and excused himself to make a call

Y/N observed him and she noticed Rui's expression get angrier each second.

"Don't mind it." Y/N assured when Rui released a harsh sigh. "Let's just have it on my home."

"Stupid gold-digger will have the house to conduct a party with her friends." Rui gritted his teeth in anger. "And dad is so blinded by this stupid woman that he'll agree on whatever she says."

Y/N looked sympathetically at the boy. She patted his shoulder and said

"She'll get what she deserves one day."

"I hope it happens soon." Rui grumbled and Y/N touched his face to form a smile

"Stop sulking." Y/N pulled his cheeks.
" Now smile."

"Ezshop It!" Rui broke free from Y/N. The latter laughed at his reaction and Rui smiled genuinely this time

"Okay enough of that. So about our project, is it okay that we conduct it on your home?"

"Yes. There is a guest room anyway so you can stay there." Y/N replied. "And maybe Nami would invite Kana too."

"It's settled then. Make sure to prepare the room for your highness." Rui puffed his chest in arrogance

"Yeah yeah. Whatever you say."
