CHAPTER TWO: BERTHA JORKINS
The thoughts about what had happened was bothersome to Harry but now, he just pushed all those thoughts aside and concentrated on their walk up the hill. It was after five minutes and Harry felt as if his legs would seize up when his feet found level ground.
'Whew', panted Mr. Weasley wiping the sweat from his forehead. 'We've made good time—all we need now is the portkey—'
They all spread out and began searching for it when they heard a voice yell, 'Over here, Arthur! Over here, son, we've got it!'
The man proved out to be Amos Diggory and he was accompanied by his son Cedric. Cedric Diggory was an extremely handsome boy who was the Hufflepuff Quidditch team's captain and seeker. He and Harry barely knew each other except the fact that both of them had played against each other twice—once in Harry's first year where the Gryffindors had won while in Harry's third year it had been Cedric who had caught the snitch before Harry because of an accident with the dementors who were stationed around Hogwarts the previous year.
'Hi', said Cedric looking around all of them smiling as all of them greeted him back except Fred and George (who were still upset about Cedric beating Gryffindor). Mr. Weasley introduced all of them to Amos Diggory, whose eyes widened in surprise and shifted to Harry's scar, like all the people in the Wizarding World, when Harry was introduced. 'Merlin's Beard', muttered Amos Diggory. 'Harry? Harry Potter?'
'Er, yeah', Harry said uneasily.
'Ced's talked about you, of course', he continued. 'Told about how he beat you last year in Quidditch—I told him that's something worth telling your grandchildren—'
So he has everything planned out, Harry thought to himself, even grandchildren!
'—that you beat Harry Potter!'
Cedric looked embarrassed but then something happened which Harry wasn't expecting again. 'Would this man give me a rest? Harry had, honestly, fallen because of dementors!' But it was just like what had happened a few minutes ago with Hermione. It wasn't something Cedric had said but instead something he had thought. Harry again felt himself viewing a certain memory, the memory of the time Harry and Cedric were in for a chase for the snitch last year. Cedric was zooming upwards and Harry was about two feet ahead of him, when he suddenly felt coldness engulf him and it appeared as if he won't ever be happy again—
Harry again tried to break out of it and like Hermione, Harry noticed once he broke out of it, Cedric hadn't realised anything.
'—tell which one's the better flier!' Amos Diggory said but Harry paid him no heed.
Why could Harry see other people's memories and he could hear their thoughts?
First, Hermione and then Cedric.
What was happening to him? Was he telepathic?
It was like one of the characters in the comics Dudley read who could read other people's thoughts.
But how could he suddenly be able to do this?
'Harry?' Mr. Weasley's concerned voice broke him out of his stupor. 'Are you all right? You suddenly look very pale.'
'Must be because he remembered the dementors—foul creatures those are', he heard Ron but he knew almost instantly it wasn't something he was saying and Harry just tried to push the thoughts away for the moment and looked at Mr. Weasley and smiled tightly. 'Yeah I'm fine.'
