"Dad, your boss called... He said that um... You lost your job. Don't worry though, because for the time being I could get a part-time job to help pay the rent. You could also do a... Side job," I remembered Mason telling me in the morning.

I did it again. I can't believe I'm causing Mason to get a job. I fucking did it again.

Can you imagine how it feels to have your own six-teen year old son come up to you to tell you that you have just been fired from your job and offer to get a job to help pay rent? It's fucking disgraceful.

His grades could falter down because of this. What if he doesn't get his scholarship, because I can't get my shit together. I'm already am guilty of him having to cope with the depressed, clumsy, father who can't maintain a job for more than a few months- I'm an embarrassment.

I sighed as I rubbed my temple. "I'm sorry," I whispered to the empty room. I leaned back against the living room couch I was sitting in and closed my eyes. Slowly exhaustion from stress, frustration, and lack of sleep caught up to me drifting me to sleep.

I turned around to see if she really was staring at me; she wasn't. I trained my eyes on her for a couple more seconds praying she'd stare back and Luke saw correctly-she never did turn. I turned back to Luke covering up my disappointment.

"Oh please Luke, why would a girl like her being staring at me?" I tried to wave away.

"'Cause maybe, you're hot," Luke said with a teasing smile.

"Not I'm not," I retorted.

"Well, in my opinion, your pretty hot," Calum commented getting a blush creeping up my face.

"Especially that hair like, goddamn!" Michael winked. The boys laughed and I'm slowly regretting agreeing to eating lunch with Calum.

(A/N: I'm talking about the 2013 summer Ashton hair rn. You're crazy if you find don't find that hot af)

"Shut up," Ashton muttered, embarrassed with his face buried into his hands.

The boys continued to tease me until the lunch bell rang. I thought it was my escape from them only to find out we all have the same Calculus class.

I, for one, absolutely despise calculus. I might like math, but calculus isn't the same. Once you take the class you'll understand what I'm talking about; it's gruesome. I was basically dying, but I was kind of appreciated the boys' accompany besides their brutal teasing. It was like hit after hit-showing no mercy. But, thanks to them I didn't mentally die withen the eighty minute prison of Calculos. For last block I had English. Luke told me that the English teacher Mrs. Fowler was probably the best teacher in our year.

As I entered, I automatically loved it.

There sat Sage De Angelo, alone and the only seat empty was the one beside her.

I obviously want to sit beside her, but what if she talks to me and I make a fool of myself? What if she ends up hating me?

"Ashton, you're sounding like a girl! Stop it!" I scolded myself. I fixed my slouching posture and took the seat beside her. She gave me a nod of acknowledgement and I think my heart just stopped.
