After the party was over, Fatgum waited in the lobby for Akiyo. Since she had to walk home and it was late at night... if she did live in the area he worked in them she would need to take the train.
"Taishiro? You're still here?" She asked. It was close to 1 am, she had to clean up all the stuff in the kitchen, dry it, and put it back, then send all the rags she used to the laundry and cleaning rooms.
"Yeah, it's late."
"It's really late. How come you're still here?"
"I was waiting for you, I didn't walk you home last time."
"Oh. Thanks."
He wasn't about to tell her that he wanted to know so that when they surveyed tomorrow, he could drop by.
They waited at the train station, and she yawned.
"How was tonight? Sorry if Endeavor spooked you a bit, he's a bit of an intense guy."
"It's alright, I've just got my opinions and he's got his."
"You're surprisingly chill about this."
"Well, as long as he doesn't burn down my shop then it's all okay. I barely even have a shop yet."
"How so?"
"Well, it's not stocked, the whole place is empty, and I definitely need to hire at least one person who knows how to make good coffee..."
"Oh, that makes sense. There's a lot to do to become a shop owner isn't there."
"Yeah, but this has also been... a pretty big dream."
"How did you get Yamamoto-san to be your benefactor."
"He just showed up and tried to get me to do other stuff, but I kept saying no. I guess I won the lucky draw and he wanted a stake in my work, so he basically gifted me a shop and a new life."
"A new life?"
"We don't talk about that," she said, getting on the train.
"Right, sorry."
Don't ask questions about the past, at least not super soon.
"Yamamoto-san told us what your quirk is..."
"Now that is rude. I already told him I don't want to be a hero-"
"But why not?"
"Huh?"
"I mean, it's not the best job but it'll put your quirk to use won't it?"
"It would, but I wouldn't be happy. I'm a pretty nasty person. I'm not going to go out of my way to save anyone."
"That's... I can't really agree with that but I respect your decision."
"Appreciate it."
After about a twenty minute train ride, Fatgum saw her nodding off.
"You can sleep on my shoulder-"
"Thanks, I'll stay awake though."
"You worked hard for the dinner, it was really good."
"I hope so... I feel like I definitely screwed up."
"Why?"
"I made enough to feed that whole crowd three times over."
"Eh? Really? You could have told me I would have eaten more-"
"It's okay because the boss gave it to his employees... but if it was anyone else I'd be in hot water..." she said, yawning.
"What about the other chefs? I didn't see them come out."
"They're on holiday."
"Oh. Well... is Yamamoto-san a good boss?"
"More like an old man. But I guess... anyways, he helped me out."
She stood up as their stop was approaching, and Fatgum went to stand as well, grabbing hand hook thing.
They left the station and he followed her.
"Say, do you have work tomorrow?"
"Yeah, I'm gonna be surveying the places you met those guys."
"The ones with the black and green suits?"
"Yup. I'll pass by your shop too if things don't get hairy."
"By yourself?"
"Best Jeanist will also be there. Yamamoto-san did request it after all."
"Is he like a big boss?"
"Well, he's a pretty powerful guy. Certainly, he's incredibly intelligent. Even though he's like that, he likes to keep his hands out of stuff that heroes do. But he holds charity events and such, he gives his money away in pretty big sums so everyone wants to be on his good side. That and he has the trust of a lot of people, and I mean a lot of people. So if he asks heroes to go check on something, we usually listen because he's got good intuition and a quirk that helps him almost predict the future."
Akiyo kept her mouth shut about the fact that he was a grim reaper, of course he knew the future.
"So he's like an oracle."
"Sort of. He's really into education though, and he gave donations to UA to expand from the hero department to support and general education. He's friends with the principal."
"Oh wow."
"Yeah, he also donated to the police department while I was in police school, and he met with all the students individually. It was kind of touching now that I think about it, but it was scary. Such a powerful guy at such a young age."
"I thought he was just a guy who owns some companies."
"That's what most people know him for though."
They began walking, and Taishiro noticed that it was looking suspiciously similar to the path he walked on with her, on the Main Street.
"You live down here?" He asked, glancing around.
