Chapter 8: A New Friend and Tensions Rising

the streets of Vale were decorated in banners and balloons for the Vytal Festival. Weiss was leading team RWBY through the crowds until they reached the dock where old man shopkeep was setting up a banner that said "Welcome To Vale" to greet visitors from the other kingdoms of Remnant.

Weiss: *in an awed tone* the Vytal Festival, oh this is absolutely wonderful!

Ruby: I don't think I've ever seen you smile this much Weiss, *Facial expression changes to a disturbed one* it's kind of weirding me out

Weiss then turns around to Ruby and looks at her like she's insane

Weiss: How could you not smile? a festival dedicated to the cultures of the world!, There will be dances, parades, and a tournament! Not to mention the amount of planning and organization that goes into this is simply breathtaking

the group continues walking, then Yang sighs and crosses her arm

Yang: man you really know how to take a good thing and make it sound incredibly boring

Weiss: oh, quiet you

they then stop as the sounds of foghorns from ships are heard

Yang: remind me again why we're spending our Friday afternoon visiting the stupid docks? 

Ruby then covers her nose in disgust

Ruby: ugh, they smell like fish

then Neo, Mercury, and Emerald walk up to them but (Y/N) is nowhere to be seen

Emerald: eh, you get used to it

Yang: hey guys, what're you doing here

Emerald: Well Merc wanted to look for competition for the tournament and get some food while he was at it

Blake: so you were dragged here too

Mercury: *with his mouth full of ramen* what boss said I could

Yang: yeah I was gonna ask, where is he

Neo: 'oh he's on patrol'

Weiss: what do you mean

Neo: 'well, his mutation gave him some animalistic instincts and one of those is the need to protect his territory which is now Vale'

Ruby: huh, woah look at that

the group turns to look at a shop with a shattered window, surrounded by yellow caution tape and two detectives working on the situation. the group then walks up to the building

Ruby: What happened here?

Detective 1: Robbery, second dust shop to be hit this week. this place is turning into a jungle

he then walks over to his partner

Yang: *sadly* that's terrible

Detective 2: *talking to his partner* They left all the lien again

Ruby: What?

Detective 1: Yeah, just doesn't make a lick of sense. Who needs that much dust?

Detective 2: I don't know, an army?

this remark however, meant something to Mercury and Emerald as they looked at each other concerned

 Detective 1: You thinking the White Fang?

Detective 2: *Removes his sunglasses* I'm thinking we don't get paid enough

Weiss: *crosses her arms* Hmph, the White Fang what an awful bunch of degenerates!
