A/N: I had to add this image, it was too cute!

I saw him in my dreams.

The Ink Demon.

He was chasing after me, I began to run, but the shadows reached out from the wall and grabbed me, holding me in place.

"Henry! Help!" I cried, but when I turned my head he was being dragged away.

I saw ink gush out of him, from his mouth to his eyes, to his ears.

The shadows twisted me around, the Ink Demon lunged for me and I woke up.

Henry woke to the sound of whimpers.

He had always been a light sleeper, he lifted his head and peered over at Susannah.

"No, no, please. Not Henry." She pleaded, then yelped quietly and sat bolt-right up. She began to cry.

"Hey, come here kiddo," Henry said softly, resting on his elbow. She lifted her head and stumbled over to his bed.

Lifting the covers, she crawled in with him.

"What did you have a dream about?" He murmured.

"T-The Ink Demon," she whispered, tears still crawling down her cheeks.

"Henry... What if he finds us here?" She started to stress, eyes watering. "What if he kills all of us?"

"He won't find us here," He reassured her, wiping away a tear with his thumb. "I can promise you that."

She was silent for a moment when she asked, "Henry, how are you so brave?"

"Brave?" Henry repeated, slightly taken aback. "Well, sometimes I still get scared."

"Really?"

"Yeah, but I hold my head high and push on."

Soon Susannah's breathing became slow and steady, and she was asleep. Her hand was holding Henry's, and somewhere in the back of his mind, sparked a memory.

One before all of the ink machine.

One when he was on the surface.

He remembered when his daughter had woken up from a nightmare and had fallen asleep, holding his hand tightly.

"I saw you liked that Boris plushie," Henry started, leading her down the hall. "So today, I thought that we would get you a new one because you didn't come back with it."

"Aww, thanks, old man." Susannah teased.

"How long are you going to keep calling me that?" Henry sighed, smiling.

"As long as it takes for me to grow up," she rolled her eyes.

"Hey! I'll race you to that door!" Susannah pointed to the room which led them to the stairs.

"Wait," he grabbed her arm. "I want you to hold my hand, so I know if you get stolen."

She nodded and grabbed his hand.

They made it to the Heavenly Toys workshop, and Susannah marvelled over how big one of the Boris plushies were.

She stood herself next to it. "It's massive!" She exclaimed.

Henry held his right hand up to it. "It's eye is bigger than my hand."

"Oh, Henry, your hand!"

He looked back at it and gasped at what he saw.
