'Maze, Get up you lazy fuck!'
That's paisley my wolf,
See werewolf's are usually one being and always in control, but I was cursed so my wolf split from me.
"Bitch"
"I mean yeah,"
I love her she's my best friend but I miss being a wolf, she misses not being trapped in my head.
'Tonight is the blue moon!'
I smiled to myself.
Wait
'What if I loose you?'
'I never thought about that.'

"Maze!! Your gonna be late!"
My mom left our pack when I was cursed because I was kicked out, she said she didn't want me to be alone. My dad left us for the pack, I don't judge him I know how amazing it is to be a wolf and I'd never take that from him.
"Coming!"

'Don't worry about it Mazie, if it comes to it and you don't need me as your wolf anymore then I will gladly let you be free again.'
I wanted to protest but she blocked all further communication.
"You won't go anywhere if that's the price I have to pay."
She couldn't hear me, but it made me feel better saying it.

I made my way to school
After I got out of my car, I got this weird tingly feeling in my chest, maybe I was just nervous for the full moon. Yeah. Nerves.

I was never one to get "bullied" I mean yeah there were rumours about me but who doesn't have a few rumours? I'm not a wimp so I'd just beat up anyone who tried to pick a fight, Or paisley would, I tried to avoid her dealing with it because she's not as forgiving as me.
'Asshole.'
'Hey your back!'
I must've looked like I was mental smiling to myself, but oh well.
Me and paisley being two different beings took away all my wolf characteristics, I can't smell other wolves anymore and I can't bare my teeth at foe's.
However paisley has realized, that if I am truly in danger she can front and even though she can't transform she gets the strength, speed and agility a werewolf would have anyway.
'At least the moon goddess doesn't want me dead.'
'Wouldn't be so sure!'
'Shut up stop reading my mind!'
'We have the same mind.'
Damn I forgot about that.

Then the most popular group of people walked past me, for some reason whenever they walk by paisley quiets down and hides for a bit. What a wimp.

"Excuse me." The mean one whose name I don't care to learn spat.
"You're excused." I smirked and she scoffed, and then she did something she shouldn't have, she punched me.
I was out, my body was still conscious but it wasn't mine anymore, it was paisleys.
I knew I had to stop paisley though I'd never tried before
I didn't need a death on my shoulders.
'Paisley it's fine, I'm fine. Calm down.'
'No, no, she touched us. She'll die.'
I knew at this point my eyes no longer looked human, nor did my teeth.
Then she stopped, she calmed and she breathed deeply.
'Mate.'
'Huh?' I questioned what she said because I swore I heard it wrong.
But before she could do anything I was back in my body, calming down and trying to figure out what to say to the group of populars.
"Mate."
I heard that word again, what does it mean? I thought it was paisley again but I looked up to the group of girls and they were all looking at the most popular one in shock.
"Her seriously?"
"Congratulations b."
A bunch of congratulations and questions were happening at the same time so I took the chance to run, what are they talking about?
'Mate, go back. find. her.'
Paisley was desperately trying to front but since I wasn't in immediate danger she couldn't.
'Maze please!'
Was she crying? I was to busy running to answer or stop. Then I reached my car.
'I'm sorry paisley I wasn't staying there.'
'Go back! Go back!'
"WHY!?"
I actually screamed that out loud and paisley blocked off conversation, she's mad. I don't even know why she's mad!

I skipped the rest of the school day so I could go ask mom for help.
"Mom? Are you home?"
"Yeah? Kitchen!"
"Mom."
She turned around and I could see her worried face.
"What happened?"
"What's a mate?"
She dropped her spoon and her mouth dropped.
"Why?"
I told her about what happened and she took a deep breath.
"A mate is a wolf thing, it is when you meet your other half."
"Other half?"
"It's like soul mates!"
Oh that made it easier.
"Stay home for a couple days, until I can really explain what it means to have a mate."
"Sure, I'll never turn down free fake sick days."
She chuckled but it seemed forced.
"Go get ready the moon will be up soon."
"Yes ma'am" I salute and head to my room.

"Soul mate?"
'Yeah and you ran away from her.'
'Heeey look who's back!'
'I'm still mad but you need me so I have to put my feelings aside.'
'Maze....if it comes to the point where in order for you to be a wolf again you need to lose me, don't hesitate. Okay?'
'What, what do you mean?'
'You heard me.'
I did hear her but I refuse to think that the moon goddess is that cruel.

I was on my way to the forest, if I transform I don't want people around.
It had been about 3 hours of sitting and waiting. I don't know who I thought I was, I thought I'd walk out here look at the moon and transform again. But this is real life, not a fairy tale.
'I'm sick of this, how can you not be transformed yet?'
Then the glowing wolf we only see in stories we read to pups appeared from the light of the moon.
"She has not transformed because her only thought resinates with loosing her best friend."
'Who?'
'You.'
"So I see, let me ask you something child."
I nodded and the giant wolf made of light sat in front of me.
"It seems my punishment was harsher than I thought it would be. I will give you the option to choose what happens next.
You can stay as you are and keep Paisley or you can let her go and be a wolf again."
I paused, both those options suck.
"Then again I could."
"What! Please tell me!" I sounded so desperate.
"I could give you all your wolf senses but only paisley would be able to transform."
"So paisley would be able to have a physical form and I would have my senses?"
"Yes but you will never be in control of your wolf again."
I closed my eyes. Paisley was quiet as a mouse and waiting for what I had to say, the moon goddess probably told her not to tell me what to do.
"Do it."
'No!'
"If that is the option you choose for yourself then I may grant it to you."
Then the massive wolf walked to me and put her forehead to mine.
"Now rest easy."
Then she was gone, as quickly as she came she left.
'Maze.'
Paisley!'
'Why?' I could hear her voice breaking with tears.
'Because you never did anything wrong.' I smiled.
Then I was knocked off my feet by a child.
That's when I smelled it. A pack, a strong one. On the child. And then the little boy screamed, loudly.
"Shit."
