I wonder if when she thinks of her mate she thinks of me or paisley?

No shut up it's obviously me. Right?
As I looked around I realized that I was no longer free inside paisley's subconscious. There were chains around my ankles and wrists.
'Paisley? What is this!'
No answer?
'Paisley! Let me out!'
I tried to get up but the chains pulled me to the ground again.
My words echoed in the darkness I was encased in.
'Moon goddess, why has this happened to me?'
It was never a message meant to get to the goddess, more of a silent question I didn't really need an answer to.
"Momma! I'm scared. I'm stuck here and I don't know my way out. It's dark and I can't move, can't you pester me again about how important it is to be safe?"
A wolf walked up to me, a beautiful white wolf with ember eyes.
'Hello maze,'
'Hi?'
'It's me.'
'Hi, me.' I probably looked like a deer in headlights to this creature.
'No idiot it's your wolf, the original one.'
'My original wolf? Like before I was cursed?'
No way my original wolf was brown, wasn't it?
'I've been here since paisley was created.'
'You mean when the moon goddess created her for the curse?' I tried to get closer to the wolf but the chains kept me still.
'No maze, you made paisley. And I was stuck here, but you no longer need me. So I decided I'd finally do the right thing.'
Hun? The right thing?
'I'm giving you back the ability to transform.'
What?
'No I already turned that offer down to keep paisley!'
The wolf walked closer.
'No, you will keep paisley, but you will also be able to transform, though you will get tired quickly since it's been 6 years. Paisley will be the main form but you will be able to transform.'
Really!? That can happen?
'What will happen to you?'
Is she giving up her life for this?
'I am you, I am just the you that was blocked off, paisley isn't you, paisley is the wolf you made subconsciously because you were scared, you were only 11 when you were cursed.'
'So she's not real?'
The wolf shook her head.
'The moon goddess took pity on you and let paisley be real, she's not a monster.'
So the moon goddess did care.
'But before I give you back your wolf, you need to break those chains.'
How can I break chains? I'm not that strong!
I pulled at the chains and they pulled back. I looked at the wolf with an expression I can only explain as 'seriously?'
'I don't get why paisley trapped me here?'
'Paisley? Paisley did nothing, in fact paisley has been calling to you for a while now. You blocked her out.'
'No I didn't,' then I thought about it, the chains appeared after I doubted myself.
'I did this?'
'Yes maze, but you will figure out a way to escape, and when you do I will be waiting.'
That's not the best advice wolfy.
I tugged at the chains again and again, it had to be hours past when I got here.
'I give up, I'm sorry. I tried, I really tried.'
I was bawling at this point, tears stained my face leaving tracks down my neck.
'I can't even sense my own mate! I don't deserve to get out of here do I?'
Then the chain on my wrist tightened.
Guilt, the word engraved itself into the cuff of the chains,  was this chain is made of my guilt? what about the other 3?
'I should have been a better daughter,'
And again the chain on my ankle tightened.
'Regret.'
'What if Lucinda rejects me.'
Another tightening chain.
'Fear'
What could the last one be?
'Guilt, fear, regret.
I spent hours thinking of what the last chain could represent.
I went through, hatred, selfishness, sadness, and every other emotion starting with 's'
'That's it, I don't get it. I won't get it! If this is some stupid test then I failed! I'll find a different way to pass it! It's not like I've ever don't anything normally before!'
I screamed into the echoing darkness surrounding me, and the final chain tightened then broke, along with the other three.
'What? How?'
The wolf appeared again.
'Acceptance.'
'What?'
'Guilt, regret, fear and acceptance.'
Those were the four chains and what they represented.
'Acceptance? How cliche.'
'You created them, don't blame me!'
I created them? No way! Why would I trap myself here?
"Wake up maze."
Lucinda? Did I just hear Lucinda?
'Goodbye maze, stay safe little wolf.'
After that the wolf turned to ash and cherry blossoms.
———————
I opened my eyes, the light was far to bright and my head was all but fine.
"Maze?" I could hear the voice but I couldn't detect it at first.
"In the flesh."
Then she hugged me, the smell of mint and chocolate hit my nose and the world seemed like it had completely stopped spinning, like the only thing that I lived for was her.
"Mate."
Lucinda looked at me wide eyed and to be honest I don't even know what came over me.
"Maze? That is you right? Not paisley?"
"Yeah, it's me." I smiled at my mate, 'my mate' I like how that sounds.
'Me too,'
'Paisley!'
'Welcome back you asshat.'
"That's the first time you've ever called me your mate."
I looked up at Lucinda and she had tears pouring rivers out of her eyes.
"Woah what's wrong!"
I frantically tried to wipe her tears but she just pulled me in for a hug.
"Nothing, just happy."
I smiled, I figured I'd tell her the good news, along with paisley.
"I felt it Lucinda,"
"Felt what?"
"The world stop spinning." I smiled at her and her eyes lit up like lanterns on a night without a moon.
Before I could say anything else Lucinda kissed me, the electric shocks hit my lips but they weren't unpleasant, in that moment I felt like the planets had aligned and blessed me.
Then Lucinda pulled away.
"I'm so sorry! I wasn't thinking."
I quickly pecked her lips to quiet her down for a second.
"It's fine Lucy."
'Ew nickname,'
'Shut it mutt!'
I smiled.
"I have to tell you some awesome news!" I hope their as exited as I am.
