It's been about a couple weeks since then. For these two weeks, Theo and I have been in a secret romantic relationship. When we were around anyone, we had to act like a mistress and butler. But when we were alone, we could loosen up a little.
I was petting Ray in my room, taking it easy since I'm going to be kind of busy later today. He nudged the back of my hand while purring, giving him a smile. "You're being awfully affectionate right now. What's the occasion?" Ray just meowed in response. Just then, there was a knock on my door. "Come in."
My door opened, revealing some maids. "We're here to get you ready for tonight's party, Lady Kendall."
Ray ended up jumping off my bed, heading over to his own bed as I was standing up. "I know the drill."
Sitting in front of the vanity, the maids started fixing a section of my hair. I felt the curling iron rolling up on some of my hair, making voluminous and bouncy curls. Closing my eyes, I felt another maid applying foundation on me. It's like I went from zero salon treatment to almost every day salon treatment.
After a little while, the maids were fitting me into the dress I would be wearing tonight. Looking in the mirror, I looked like a sophisticated young lady. If there was a fan blowing the skirt part of my dress, I would look majestic.
The maids were leaving my room, Theo coming in afterwards. He was stunned when he saw me. "No matter how many times I've seen you dressed up, it always amazes me."
I blushed. "The maids always do an outstanding job."
"Right, but... You just look good in anything whether it's your usual tshirt and sweatpants combo or a fancy dress."
I smiled and giggled. Walking over towards him, I gave him a kiss on the cheek. "You've earned that."
There was a blush on his face, smiling afterwards. He went close to me, giving me a kiss on the lips. "You deserve at least that much."
I happily sigh. "Why thank you."
"A lot of the guests are already here. Allow me to escort you as usual."
"Of course." I followed Theo out of my room, closing the door behind me. While we were walking and when no one was around, we held each other's hand.
At the party, I was in a conversation with a group of people I don't know, sharing a glass of champagne with them. "So, Lady Kendall." One of them said. "Do you plan to wed one of his highnesses or wed a gentleman from a Noble household?"
I was screaming inside. "I don't plan on marrying anytime soon."
"But you must! Noble Michel is coming onto his years, and this castle needs an heir. You are the only one that can fulfill that role by marriage."
I was starting to feel uncomfortable. "I think my great-grandfather has more years in him since he's still really active and healthy."
"But just in case something happens to him, he needs an heir. Would you consider meeting my son for potential marriage?"
Oh god, how do the princes deal with this every time? I wouldn't be able to handle it if I got asked this constantly, being put on the spot. I wanted to leave, so I was coming up with an excuse. "I'll think about it and get back to you. I just remembered that I have other business to attend to. Please excuse me." Bowing, I walked away from the group.
That was the most stressful thing ever, even more stressful than giving a public speech and that's saying something. Can this night get even more stressful?
