It was drawing very close to the end of the year. Right now, I was attending a meeting with all of the princes and their butlers, including mine. We were all listening to Noble Michel making a speech on how to help each of the nations. To better the relationships by diplomacy, and lending a hand whenever we need help as he quotes.

Is this what I would have to do one day? If Noble Michel was no longer able to do this, I would be the next in line to take over. But I don't have a clue how to be a leader, much less to hold a meeting like this. Plus, I don't plan on marrying anytime soon, even though I'm in a relationship right now that no one knows about.

Resting my face on the palm of my hand, my eyes shifted towards Theo, who was lined up with the other butlers at the right of the room. Of course he was paying attention to Noble Michel, not expecting him to make eye contact with me. Turning my eyes back towards my great-grandfather, I continued listening to his speech.

Once the speech was over, Noble Michel seemed like he wanted to announce something else. "As you all know, the new year is just around the corner. I will be holding a party here on New Year's Eve. We will count down to the new year like we always have."

Whenever it was New Years, I would be at home with my parents. They would drink champagne while I drank cider since I wasn't old enough to drink yet. This will be my first New Years away from home. My mom is a huge fan of the Zodiac, and I already sent something to home prior to that. Meanwhile, I sent my dad a calendar for next year since he loves calendars. It's what I always done for my parents every year, so it's nothing new.

"Are there any suggestions for this upcoming New Year's party that any of you have in mind?" Noble Michel asked.

"I shall bring champagne from my country for us to enjoy." Keith mentioned.

"And I shall bring some roses from my kingdom for scenery." Edward added in.

"While we're at, maybe we should have balloons!" Roberto suggested.

"I can always bring the kagami-mochi decoration like I did last year." Glenn said.

"Perhaps we could all think about our resolutions for the upcoming year." Joshua suggested.

"I agree with that in addition to make a secret personal wish. Something from our heart." Wilfred said.

"Those are all wonderful suggestions!" Noble Michel commented, now looking over towards me. "Kendall, do you have any suggestions to share for the New Years party?"

Now the attention was on me. I never really planned for a New Years party before. My mom would cook, my dad would be keeping up with the count down from the TV while decorating our living room. I would help them with both of their tasks. And now, I had the opportunity to do my own thing.

Thinking to myself, I thought of an idea. "Do you set off fireworks at the end of the countdown?"

"Why yes." Noble Michel answered. "Seeing such vibrant colors in the sky sets the mood, don't you think?"

"I agree. If it's possible, could we set off fireworks with the new year numbers?"

"I think that's a wonderful idea! I will have Zain inform the staff about your suggestion."

"Could we have sparklers while we're at it?"

"Why, of course!"

I smiled brightly. I've never done fireworks on New Years since my family and I tend to go to sleep shortly after. But in truth, my parents get really drunk on New Years so they're just out regardless. I couldn't wait to celebrate New Years with everyone, thinking I should give my parents a call on the day of.

New Year's Eve night was here before we knew it. We were all at the party with the regular guests. The room was decorated with white, black, and gold balloons and red roses. There was quite a lot of champagne along with the kagami-mochi decoration at a table. At another table, there was a chocolate fountain! That was my favorite part of this party, to be honest.

I was holding a strawberry on a stick, letting it get smothered with running chocolate. I took a bite of it, feeling like I was on cloud nine. "You enjoying the chocolate fountain?"

I saw it was Theo who was smiling at me. Swallowing my bite, I happily nodded. "I love this thing. Thank you for suggesting this. I'm so mad that I didn't think of that."

"I knew you would want something like this at the party."

"You know me so well."

"I should at this point."

"I love you-" Realizing what I said, I squeezed my lips. I hope no one caught that. I wouldn't want to cause anything during this special night. "I-I mean... I love that you... Always know what I would want!"

Theo was blushing a bit. "And I love that whatever I do for you makes you happy."

Now it was my turn to blush. Luckily, no one seemed to hear what was said, feeling relieved. Even though I want to share my relationship I have with Theo, we both knew it would cause a stir up with the public. If people weren't such judgement assholes and not care about status and class, then we wouldn't have to hide this right now!

"Anyway... Did you want me to get you some champagne?"

"Sure, and feel free to have some too." I suggested. "It's New Years, so kick back a bit. The other butlers are even drinking."

"They're drinking cider since they can't drink anything with alcohol. It would be bad if they drove under the influence."

"Yeah... Didn't think about that. But since you don't have to drive, you can have an alcoholic drink if you want."

"Alright then. I'll be right back with our drinks." Theo walked away, leaving me with the chocolate fountain. Taking another strawberry on a stick, I had it under the running chocolate. I might accidentally on purpose eat all of this by the end of the night.

Later that night, the count down was just near its end. The party was moved towards the back of the castle where the giant lake was. It was a bit chilly tonight, so I ended up wearing a jacket over my dress. Looking at the time on my phone, it was 11:59pm with the last seconds approaching.

Happy New Year!

The fireworks started going off, bringing color to the dark sky. The colors were so bright and pretty, small and big ones flashed with every second. It was so loud that it somewhat hurt my ears, but I didn't care. I was enjoying the sight, living every moment of it.

Feeling someone gently nudging me, I saw Theo handing me an unlit sparkler. Taking it, I was excited to light this baby up. Lighting his first, he lit mine with his lit sparkler. Now we both have a colorful sparkler in our hand.

We may seem like a mistress and butler enjoying our time together, but we were both thinking this was like a mini New Years date. Still having my phone on me, I ended up taking some pictures of the moment. I couldn't wait to look at these in private tonight before going to bed.

While no one was looking, we quickly kissed each other. This was my first New Years kiss, and I know it was the same for him. Our sparklers ran out, deciding to light up new ones. I was so happy to suggest these fireworks since they were really fun to look at.

The finale of the fireworks was about to happen. Four lights shot up in the air, revealing the New Years numbers clearly in the sky. It was the most majestic thing I've ever seen! I'm so happy they managed to make it work!

Last but not least, a enormous firework shot up in the sky, indicating that it was all over. Everyone ended up clapping at the end, including us. While we were clapping, Theo and I were smiling endearingly at one another. I believe we were thinking the same thing. That our love for each other will continue to grow, and eventually we will no longer have to hide our feelings from everyone.

(A/N: Happy 2021!!! I managed to release this specific chapter on time!)
