Izuku flinched the moment he woke up. Was he in heaven? Blinding lights met his eye, he couldn't believe it, was he really in heaven? No, wait, he's wrong. Where was he then?
He placed his palm over his squinted eyes. He couldn't see anything still. Was it because his eyes still hasn't adjusted to the lighting? Perhaps. He looked away to examine the room, but still nothing.
"Are 'ya awake? Bastard?"
Who said that? Izuku panicked, was he kidnapped for some sort of ransom? And why can't he see anything? Where was he anyway? He felt devastated, today is just the worst. No, he wasn't even sure of the day it is today. How long was he out?
"Where am I?" he managed to say. He wanted to ask a lot of questions but he was too overwhelmed with the lack of information he has.
"Hm? Not sure how to describe this place. It's an underground clinic of sorts." The man continued. "Diagnosis from mister know-it-all said that you almost died from blunt force trauma. Lucky that you survived."
Izuku felt disappointed, dying is what he want. He lowered his head and furrowed his brows. "Why did you save me, then?" he asked as he felt his hands fiddle. "I was... trying to die."
The man only gave an audible sigh. "One of those kids huh," he mumbled. "There's more to life than that, you know? 'Ya could even be a hero if you put your mind to it, though I don't really recommend it."
"Earlier this day, a hero told me I couldn't do it."
That only confused the man. "Hah? What do you mean, idiot?" he asked. "A hero told you that you couldn't become a hero? Huh, interesting. Why did they do that?"
Izuku felt a smile crept in his face. For once, he felt like someone was there for him. "Well, I'm quirkless," he chuckled. "What do you expect? I'm a good for nothing bastard of a child."
"You're not."
What? Izuku wasn't expecting that answer, especially from a guy who he just met. Most just pity him because of his lack of quirk. They say that he should just give up this life, in exchange for a better one.
"You can do great things, even if you're not a hero. You could be a policeman but that wouldn't even be half as fun. But you can do great things, don't be like those bastards who only think of money, fame, and sex. Heroes nowadays have lost their purpose, they're plastics! They don't rescue people just because they want to, they rescue them for the glory they recieve. You may not know this but that's what they do nowadays. They're good for nothings."
Was... all of that true? That all of the heroes are just there to show off? That they're there for the fame and wealth? For sex appeal? Then... was all of what he's taught so far was just lies? He couldn't believe those damn heroes. "They're insults to the real ones," Izuku mumbled. "Like... All Might."
"Bingo!" Izuku heard fingers snapped. "All Might is the magnus opium of being a hero! I'd like to fight him one day because of that. I bet he'd put up a wonderful fight!"
Fight? What does he mean by fight? "Sir, out of curiosity, what's your job and name?" he asked as he held his hand, afraid that he asked the question in a wrong time.
Silence could be heard from both sides. "A villain," he said. "Name's Stain. The hero killer."
Stain... the hero killer... the perfect match for Izuku Midoriya. Izuku had already vowed that he'd work for this man and that he would die for him. That he would go through heaven and hell for this man. But him being **the** hero killer just makes Izuku's adrenaline rush. A smile crept unto his face, he wants to be this villain's apprentice.
"Hm? What'cha smilin' for?" the man asked him. "Don't tell me, are you going to report me to the heroes?!" Izuku heard a metal chair dragging along the ceramic floor with the grim voice of the man. Of course Izuku retorted.
"No no no! It's not like that!" He shook his hands. "I would never do that, I swear! You saved my life after all! All I could do to repay you back is to be your apprentice of sorts! You could order me around and I'll not disappoint you!" he exclaimed. "And you said you want to fight All Might right? Well, I heard that he would be teaching in UA! I-if I managed to pass there then I could bribe or blackmail him into doing what you want!"
Stain looked intrigued as he smiled. "You're an interesting kid aren't you? Say, after we get your eye's fix, would you mind staying by my apartment? Don't worry, it's free!"
Izuku gladly accepted his invitation. "Sure! It's as if society would still accept me, my mom probably think I'm dead by now too. Wait, how many days has it been anyway?"
"Almost two weeks, the doctors had to extend your sleep because your injuries are far too many. They were about to do the last surgery to your eyes today, but since you woke up it was rescheduled to tomorrow."
Oh, yeah. He still would be useless if he was blind. That was so idiotic for him to think that he could be an assistant of his with this condition.
"Oh, I forgot to mention. Doctor know-it-all also said that they'll be using you as some sort of lab rat, since what they're doing to your eyes is a new thing. Healing blindness isn't something your everyday man could do afterall," he added.
They discussed for hours, Izuku found this man respectable and admirable and Stain found him worthy of being his successor. Both of them found joy in each other's existence.
