Addy's POV
Flashback
"Daddy! Higher , higher! Push me higher, Daddy!" I screamed out as I was being pushed on the big swing in my Grandma and Grandpa's backyard. I felt his hands on my back as I smiled brightly. I stopped feeling the continuous pushes of Daddy's hands on my back. "Daddy? Daddy where'd you go?"
"Sorry baby, I needed a cigarette break."
"But Daddy!! It hurts when you do that. Mommy said you can't do that around me anymore because of my ass-maa" I slowly sounded the word out that Mommy said I had. That's why I had the puffy stick thing.
"Shh baby, this can be our little secret. I'll get you ice cream if you promise not to tell mommy. I'll even get you a new stuffie?"
"Stuffie and ice cream to not tell Mommy?"
"Sure, baby."
"Deal." I smiled and Daddy put out his smigamette. "Underdog time?!"
"Sure pumpkin'. Underdog time." He pushed me until my head was in the leaves.
Flashback Over
"Hi Dad," I smiled as my father's face appeared on my laptop screen. He was getting a little older than I remembered him more than a few months ago now. "I miss you."
"Hi baby. How's London?" He waved and smiled at me as my Mom, Nina, came into frame.
"Good Dad! Toby's musical has provided a good stable job as an actress and I'm living with one of the other actresses. It's near the theatre where we work, and is only a 15 minute walk from the flat. She has a dog named Wolfie and we walk her-"
"Slow down honey. You're 23, not 16 anymore. I don't need to know everything. Now, who're you living with ? I do wanna know who you're working with and living with."
"Oh um... AIMIEEEEE"
"YEAH?" I heard from the other room.
"C'mere, my dad wants to meet you!"
"Ummm Alpha or Beta plan?"
"Beta." Alpha plan was to tell him about us dating. Beta plan was just friends. When I go for Christmas, I'll tell them. Maybe. If we're still together. Hopefully we are. I don't know what I'd do without her.
She came in and smiled as she sat down on the chair next to me. I held her hand under the table. "Hello Mr. Carpenter." she smiled and waved to the screen. "I'm Aimie, Aimie Atkinson. Addy's uh, flatmate." She almost let it slip. It's okay. I'm sure Daddy would be okay with me dating a woman. But momma? Oh Gods.
Let me tell you something about Nina Louizous Carpenter. That woman can make mean tamales and huevos rancheros, but if you ever mention something about liking someone, she's stalking them quicker than she can flip her homemade tortillas on the flat griddle thing we have. When I mentioned something about liking a boy in grade school, I think his name was Milo, but that's not the point. She became best friends with his momma faster than I could finish telling her his last name. She was like: "Mi hija voy a asegurarme de que sea un buen niño." I'm surprised that Momma let Daddy name me Adelaide May. She wanted to name me Josephine Maria. Momma said that when I was born Daddy won the coin flip that said what I got to be named. So anyways, Momma hopped into the frame. "Hola Aimie!"
