"What you need to talk about Chris?"

I stared over at him. Despite being locked away, he looked good. The orange suit made his skin tone pop with the white beater underneath even against the dull background. His muscles look more defined and toned through the arms of the suit. He needed a hair cut but it wasn't horrible.

"I'll be out soon. I don't want no pressure with you or none of that. I just want to be active in my kids life."

As I crossed my arms under my chest, he continued talking, "I know it was crazy and messed up on my part of what happened. I accept that."

"Why should I trust them around you?" I questioned.

His lip curled to the side as his face twisted up, "What you mean? You already know I would never do shit to put my seeds in harms way. When I'm out I'm going legit. I'm done with the drugs and shit so you ain't got to worry about that. It's straight and narrow from here, I'm not doing this extra shit, so what's for you to worry about me being around them?"

Rolling my eyes, "I thought the same thing but we see how that turned out. I'll think about it. That's all? I got other things to go do," I questioned.

He frowned, "Yeah."

Without saying another word, I walked out of there just as fast as I walked in twenty minutes ago. My mind was kind of blown at the conversation. I felt it was bold of him to have the audacity to think I would be okay with that from the jump. I am all here for him going on the straight and narrow and being legit. I rolled my eyes, he should've been doing that in the first place.

As I arrived back home, I noticed a car sitting in front of the house. Quickly realizing it was Alisha and T, my old stylist, as I watched them get out the car. I grab my bag and get out the car myself.

"What's up?" I questioned.

I was hoping Alisha didn't have it a habit to pop up on me like that. We've texted here and there but I wasn't ready to get back buddy, buddy.

"You haven't seen me in how many years and that's the welcome I get. I'm shocked," T said dramatically.

I cracked a slight smile, "Hey T."

She held her arms out and we hugged, "Hey girl. How are you?" She as we broke away.

"I'm good. You? You still doing hair?" I questioned.

"Yes and no, I own a clothing boutique now. I don't have the shop anymore but I still hook up some old clients hair, every now and then. Speaking of," she looks at my hair with a frown, "Girl who told you to cut all that pretty hair."

"I needed a change so hair was the first to go. It was shorter than this," I fiddle with my keys getting to find the keys to get in the house.

"Oh.... Well you should let me fix it up for you," T suggested.

"Yeah, maybe." I responded opening the door, "Thanks, Marisa," I said to the baby sitter.

"No problem. See ya," Marisa said preparing to gather her things.

Alisha and T walk in the house behind me as Chrissy and CJ runs up to me.

"Mommy!" Chris yells reaching for me. I lean down to pick him up.

"Damn girl. They look just like him," T said smiling.

"Yeah. I know."

I looked over at Alisha as I noticed her silence since they got here.

My phone vibrates in my back pocket. I put CJ down and walk over into the kitchen. I pulled my phone realizing it was the burner phone not my personal. It was Jay.
