So I know referring to Thomas as a 'Host' in fanfiction is like, not good because of people with DID and OSDD and that stuff (sorry if I sound insensitive I don't have a whole lot of knowledge on proper terms and stuff) so I instead referred to him as 'the holder'. If that is also not a good thing to use, let me know and I will change it./gen

The bright light blinded him for a moment but quickly faded. His limbs and eyelids felt extremely heavy, and it was not a welcome first feeling in his existence. His head was spinning while his stomach was going ham trying to win gold in the gymnastics portion of the Olympics. The feeling caused him to groan- There was something solid beneath him, giving him an uncomfortable resting place in the pitch black. Once he collected his bearing enough, he forced his eyes open. There was very little if any change in the lighting making him wonder if he had actually opened his eyes in the first place. He blinked.

So naturally when you wake up in a strange dark room with no idea who you are or why you are here, you start to look around. The first thing he noticed was the panel he was standing on. It had a faint glow to it, but not enough to be noticable unless you were looking at it. The rest of the 'room' was just pitch black, like a void. It seemed like the black sucked in every extra bit of light, it was extremely unsettling to him. The next thing he noticed was a tablet of sorts (of course he had no idea what it was called at the time). Within the second it lit up extremely bright. It seemed as if it were the only thing that the void didn't suck the life out of. Curiosity immediately over powered him, and he slowly got to his feet (concidering he was still laying down in an extremely uncomfortable position) He wobbled slightly, and when he tried to take a step forward, fell. So he decided that wasn't going to work. Instead he got flat on his stomach and propelled himself forward using his arms and legs. If anyone else were watching, they might've laughed at how it looked like a toddler trying to swim on dry land. But no one else was there, so he had no idea how absolutely ridiculous he looked. In due time he made it to the strange glowing structure and used it as a stable thing to hold him up. He could reach the top with his hands, but he couldn't see the glowing thing. He frowned to himself.

He had to find a way to view the light.

The blinking red light in the control room, distracted Ben from keeping Thomas from nap time. I mean sure, yeah, was nap time a basic need at 1 years old? Yes. But it was so boring in the mind palace all by himself when Thomas was asleep. When he was awake he could help him make choices, concidering how dependent he was right now. it was, after all his job to make sure the infant gets everything he needed until the other sides were old enough to take over all of that.

"Oh shit"

And in an instant he was out of the control room. Without his valiant effort at keeping Thomas awake, he quickly fell asleep. He knew that because the lighting in the mind palace changed from normal to what was essentially battery saver mode. However, that wasn't his biggest concern right now.  As quickly as he could he rocketed himself into the subconscious.

Allow me to explain, the subconscious is an extremely dangerous place for the sides. naturally thats where all the sides form as well. The subconscious is where all of the holder's (This being Thomas) mundane memories, passing thoughts, where he put his toy, and later school assignments go. so all of the unimportant information.

The sides, however, were very important. And if they stayed in the subconscious to long, it would slowly strip them on their purpose and corrupt them. But for now they didn't need to know that.

It only took a total of what Ben described as 'To long' for him to get to the center of the subconscious. ("I mean seriously why does it have to be in the dead center?")

When he arrived, he saw a small figure standing at the tablet. Or rather on the tablet. Somehow they had managed to climb on top of the tablet. How? Ben wasn't one to question. Instead he just chuckled to himself.

"Well you're early." that startled the figure causing them to fall off the structure. Immediately they started scrambling away.

"Who are you?" they asked. Ben walked closer to the structure causing the small figure to continue to shuffle away as fast as their small legs would carry them.

"Who are you?" He asked. His voice was small and immature compared to the figures. The figure smiled.

"I'm the Basic Needs trait of this system. You can call me Ben, though. My job is to maintain the upkeep of the system until the holder is old enough to take care of it themself. Who might you be?" Ben asked, tilting their head slightly.

"I.. I'm not sure."

"Hey! That's alright. It's not uncommon for you to be unsure of what your job is just yet, you just formed! In time it'll come to you." they reassured. He relaxed a little, but didn't make any move to get up.

'Morality, huh?' Ben thought to himself.. He looked over at him. "I know it's frightening right now, but i'll explain everything later. For now, we are going to go back to the mind palace okay?" He held out his hand. He was a bit hesitant. "I can tell you are tired, here." In a swift motion Ben picked Morality up into his arms. Morality thought he would be scared or wary, but he really wasn't. It felt nice to know he wasn't alone in this strange area. So instead, he rested his head on ben's shoulder. Apparently it had taken more out of him then he thought, cause after a few moments of listening to the soft sound of Ben's shoes hitting the floor, Morality was asleep.
