Jake looked over at the clock. It was now three fifteen. The sky was pitch black, not even the moon was out for it was hidden by dark storm clouds. Jake grabbed his duffel bag before quietly walking to Milly's room. He opened the door, walked over to Milly's bed, and shook her gently. "Milly, wake up, we have to go."

Milly slowly opened her eyes, looking up at Jake quizzically. "What's wrong?"

"We have to go, we can't stay here."

As mad as she was at him, she did what she was told. "Where are we going?"

"To save my sister. Pack a bag of everything you'll need but pack lightly."

It took them twenty minutes to get her stuff together and climb out the window. Jake could see a light on in the kitchen and he knew it was Alice. She was keeping surveillance tonight. He cranked his car and sped out the driveway.

They drove long after the sun had risen. They stopped only when they absolutely needed to. Jake looked over and noticed Milly was passed out. She looked so peaceful. He honestly felt bad for dragging her into this mess. Guilt was eating away at him but he had to protect those he loved. "Don't worry, Shay, I'm coming for you."

His phone began vibrating. Jake answered without even looking at it.

"Thank God, you answered. Jake, we've been worried sick about you."

He swore under his breath. "Alice."

"Don't give me the cold shoulder, Jake. We found your note. Are you trying to get you and Milly killed?"

"I'm not trying to get her killed but if I die while trying to take that bastard down, then so be it."

"Jake, don't be an ass," Jason's voice came in. "We've been trying for awhile now to find him."

"Ya, well. They have my sister. I will find him and I will kill him. Mark my words."

"Jake, if you are so adamant about finding him, let us help."

"Fine. I'll call you later." Jake hung up the phone without another word. No matter how pissed he was at his partner, Jason would have his back. If it was the other way around, Jake would be doing the same thing that Jason was.

Jake turned down the road that led up to his parents home. He killed the car and gently shook Milly. "Hey, I'm going in. You can wait in the car if you want."

Milly didn't want to wait in the car. She wanted to help him in any possible way. She stayed silent as she followed him up to the door. A female agent answered the door.

"Jake? What are you doing here?"

"I'm here to talk to my parents. Why else would I be here?"

The agent looked at him skeptically. "They are out back."

"Thanks, Jo."

Jake walked through the house, not stopping to talk to anyone. He slid open the back door, stepping out onto the covered patio.

"Jake, aren't you supposed to be in Texas?"

He hugged his mom. "Yes. But because of new things coming up, I couldn't stay."

"Shayln has been taken."

"I know and that's why I'm here. Have you heard anything from them?"

His mother looked down before glancing at his father. "Yes. They contacted us a few hours ago. They want you and one million dollars."

Jake grinned. "What did you say?"

"We told them they could have the money but not you. They said that if they didn't get you, they were going to ship us back Shayln bit by bit."

Jake ground his teeth as his mother broke out into sobs. That bastard was going to get what was going to him, Jake vowed to himself. He was seething. What did Antonio want with him or the money? Yes, Jake knew he was a drug dealer on a very large scale, as well as the leader of a crime ring. Jake would go down in the books for taking down Antonio. He didn't want to do it for the fame, he wanted to do it for the country. Well, that's what he wanted before all this happened. And now? Now, he wanted that bastard to rot in a cell somewhere for the rest of his life. That's if he doesn't decide to put a bullet between his eyes first.

Jake tried to console his mother but he was failing. He was failing at that and failing at finding his sister. He wasn't sure where to start but he knew there was on place he could go. The town that it all started in. He was going to go back to that scumbag filled, rat infested, high crime town. He told his parents that if he called to let him know and that they were to give him his number.

Two Days Later -

Jake pulled the car around the back, scoping the place out as he drove in circles. When he decided it was safe he parked. Milly was fuming in the passenger seat. She had been fighting with him for the past twelve hours. She wanted to go home but he wouldn't let her. It wasn't fair. If he could go visit his parents, why couldn't she?

"Because, the government cannot protect your family as well. They couldn't even protect my family... do you want someone in your family going missing or coming up dead?"

Milly quickly shut up. Even though she didn't like it, Jake had a point. She loved her family and didn't want anything happening to them. Jake already had enough of his plate. She didn't want or need him worry about her.

"Okay, you have a point... But Jake, can you do something for me?"

He looked at her quizzically. "I'm just slowing you down. You could have already taken care of business if it wasn't for me. I'm defenseless. I don't even know how to punch anyone... can you teach me how to protect myself incase you aren't around to protect me?"

Jake contemplated his answer for several long quiet minutes before agreeing. "I guess. Be ready to go at sunrise." Jake walked into his room that was adjacent to Milly's room. He rubbed his temples. This was going to be a long night.
