I was sitting on the couch near dad reading a book as mom was doing something is the kitchen. I have been successfully avoiding Esther which was good. As I read I saw Esther walk in with something behind her back. Wow don't I have good luck. She walked into the kitchen and I watched.
"I have a special surprise for you mommy." Esther said causing my mom to turn around.
"You do." She replied with a smile.
"I picked these flowers just for you." She then took the flowers from behind her back and presented them to mom. They looked very similar to Jessica's memorial flowers.
"Esther, what did you do?!" Mom said sounding worried. That's when I realized those flowers were from Jessica's memorial. My mom tried to get the flowers out of Esther's grasp but Esther didn't let go. Esther dropped the flowers and fell to the floor. I tapped on dads shoulder and pointed to Esther and mom.
"What did you do?!" My mom asked again. My dad got up and went to stop the situation. Esther ran away screaming. I thought she was being dramatic. My mom didn't pull on her arm that hard.
"She did this on purpose." My mom said crying.
"No she didn't." Dad said defending Esther which I hated.
"She knew what these roses meant to me." My mom said as she sat by the flowers. I went up to mom and hugged her to comfort her.
"Its my fault I told her to make a surprise for you." Dad said still defending Esther.
"I can't believe this." My mom said crying even harder. Dad gathered up the flowers and a I went upstairs to tell Daniel what happened. I walked into his room and saw him playing Mario cart. I turned it off and he looked up at me obviously mad I turned off his game.
"What the heck was that for?" Daniel asked. "I just wanted to tell you something." I told him before sitting down next to him.
"What do you need to tell me so badly." Daniel said probably wanting to get this over with so he could play Mario cart again.
"Well Esther just cut Jessica's memorial flowers." I told him.
"She did what?! Didn't she know how much those meant to mom?" Daniel asked.
"Yea. I'm convinced she did it on purpose." I answered.
"She probably did." He replied.
"Wanna play Mario cart?" He said after a few minutes of comfortable silence. "Sure." I replied with a smile. He handed me the controller and we played for an hour or two. It was nice to have Esther off my mind.
