Cassie was carried up to her room and tucked into bed. John then went up to Max's room to tuck her into bed. Max took off her hearing aids and put them on her nightstand. John then signed 'I love you' to Max. He then signed 'Danny's going to be okay. Esther walked in and went by Max. Esther then signed 'sweet dreams.' Esther kissed Max's forehead and took her hearing aids as she did it. Esther walked out and both John and Max watched as she did. John then signed 'close your eyes'. John then turned off the lamp and walked out of Max's room shutting the door behind him.
John went downstairs and went to the kitchen. He grabbed one of Kate's wine bottles and a glass. He sat on the couch and then sat down the drink and poured some in. During all this Esther had got a dress and was cutting it. John poured the wine then lit a cigarette. Esther cut more of the dress and John poured more win into the glass. Esther then ripped a piece of the dress off. John closed his eyes and then put his hand behind his neck.
Esther then put the dress on and prepared a snack platter for John. Esther walked over to John with the knife in her hand.
"Hello daddy." Esther said after putting down the tray. John slowly opened his eyes and looked at Esther.
"What are you wearing?" John asked obviously exhausted. John put his hand over his eyes and leaned back again.
"Oh Jesus." He quietly said. Esther sat down next to John and John took his hands off his face.
"Look at you. What have you done to your face. What is this?" John said before shaking his head and putting a hand over his face.
"I don't want to be alone, i'm scared." Esther told John as she leaned on his arm.
"I love you daddy." Esther said before leaning in and kissing his cheek.
"You too." John replied.
"I really love you." Esther said before leaning in and kissing his cheek again.
"I know. I know." John breathed. Esther then leaned towards John's ear.
"John, let me take care of you." Esther whispered into John's ear. John then backed away.
"What are you doing? What are you doing? What's gotten into you huh? What's going on?" John said uncomfortable with what Esther had just done.
"You said you loved me." Esther said on the verge of crying.
"You are so confused. I don't love you like that. That's the way Kate and I love each other. You understand?" John said.
"I don't see that." Esther replied before taking her arm and resting it on the top of the couch.
"You have to respect your mother." John said getting frustrated.
"I do." Esther started quickly and John shook his head no.
"I just feel like i'm alone sometimes in respecting you. I don't think anyone ever thinks about what you might be feeling. I really care about you John." Esther finished.
