Chapter:2
I ran up the stairs. I need to get ready. I took a glance at my clock. 2 o'clock. The airport is an hour away and their plane lands at 5. So they should be getting home at about 6ish. That should work.
I looked into my floor length mirror in my room.
I had waist length strawberry blonde hair that hung in pin straight layers. I had grey eyes. Yes they are grey. Not light blue. But grey. I always thought that they were dull, but people were enhanced by them. I didn't see it. I had high cheek bones and pale skin. Noting special.
I wanted to look nice for when dad comes and i just looked too ordinary for my liking. I study myself, thinking of things i could do. When an idea hit me. I ran into the bathroom grabbed hair dye, scissors, and a curling iron.
Normally most fifth teen year olds don't dye their own hair with out help, but thank God my mom's a hair stylist. She works at one of the big, expensive spas' downtown so she always has the latest hair supplies on hand. She even got me a job there. I'm an assistant helper on the weekends.
Even though I'm an assistant i get very nice pay.
My mom is their top stylist so she gets a good chunk of change. We could be living in a very expensive high end house but my mom saves most of her money for my college fund. Even though i have enough money in my savings to go to just about any college, but still she likes saving for everything. Including shopping sprees. Which end up into buying an entire mall. Almost.
I placed all my supplies on the bathroom counter. I first grabbed the scissors, taking a chunk of my long hair and cutting it up until my upper back, in back and layered it in the front the first layer consist of side bangs that went down to my chin. Then the second layer went to my shoulder the third, and final layer, went to my mid chest.
It felt nice to have shorter hair. Although it was still long it was shorter than before. I ran my fingers though my newly styled hair. It felt free and alive. No split ends. With more body. Perfect.
I looked at the hair dye directions. This one, you needed to have wet hair. So i jumped into the shower enjoying the hot steamy water run down my spine. I grabbed the shampoo and lathered my hair with it. It felt amazing that i was able to wash my hair with out it taking forever to get the ends. It took awhile to get all my hair.
I stayed like this enjoying the water for the next 15 minutes.
I turned the shower nob, shutting the water off. Wrapping a plush towel around my body i stepped out of the shower cubical. Drying my body off, i put my clothes on. I had selected a pair of dark blue skinny jeans, that didn't have any holes in them. Which was shocking considering most of my jeans were ripped. I selected a natural colored sweater with it that hung off my shoulders. Letting my hair brush against my bare skin.
I placed an old towel over my shoulders, keeping the dye from getting on my clothes.
I gathered the hair dye and mixed it all together. Grabbing rubber gloves, i took thin strands of my hair as i applied the dye. Since i love my strawberry blonde hair i decided just to add bright blonde highlights.
Wrapping the strands with dye in the, up in foil, i set the timer on my phone for 25minutes. In this time i decided to put on some makeup. I'm not one of those girls who just covers themselves in make up making them look like clowns. I like natural colors.
I decided on a pale pink lip gloss. Some light blush, mascara that made my lashes, like ten times longer. Not that i mind. My eyelashes are blonde so you can barely see them. I added black eyeliner to my water line. Nothing to heavy.
Not to formal or to causal.
My timer went off just as i finished putting my makeup on. I walked over to the mirror and unwrapped the foil from the strands i was highlighting. My hair unrolled in a light wave from being up in foil. Small light blonde stripes covered in between my strawberry layers. I had to admit i did a pretty awesome job.
I pulled out my blow dryer, drying the rest of my hair. Grabbing my hairspray i fluffed my hair up adding some volume to it.
Right after i put all the stuff away, my stomach growled. Reminding me that i never ate this morning. I could really go for a cup of coffee. Yes i was a fifth teen year old girl and i was freaking addicted to that stuff. When i was thirteen i had my first coffee at Starbucks and was instantly in love. So on my fourteenth birthday my mom got me an expresso machine, like the ones in Starbucks. With multiple flavors. I couldn't live a day without my cup of Joe. Which is weird cause i know a guy named Joe. I also never got why it was called a cup of joe. Oh well, joe taste delicious.
I grabbed a cup and filled it with black coffee reaching over the counter to the mini fridge, were I kept all my flavoring, I pick out a carmel cookie creamer. So good. I ended up having another cup.
I turned on some holiday music. I hummed along to jingle bells as i turned on the T.v. There were a bunch of holiday specials. I settled for frosty the snowman. When frosty was melting in the green house it safe to say that i had shed a few tears. Don't judge me. Frosty is a jolly snowman. He doesn't deserve to melt!
The time passed quickly, and soon enough i heard a car pull into the driveway. I jumped up running straight for the door. I fumbled with the lock for a second before i could finally pull the door open.
Jeremy was standing there with the keys out, and looked as if he was about to put the keys in the lock the second before i opened it. Now he just stared at the door.
"Jeremy? Are you okay?" I couldn't help but laugh, he looked hilarious just standing there.
Me speaking seemed to snap him out of his daze. "Um, er, yeah you just caught me by surprise."
"Huh, i guess not everyone can be a ninja like me." I stepped out of the door way as everyone filed in. The second my dad stepped though the threshold i instantly jumped on him. "Daddy!"
He dropped his bags at the floor and hugged me back. "Hey pumpkin! How's it going? I heard you are performing at this years Holiday dance."
"I'm good! And yeah i am." My mom had literally begged me, along with my chorus teacher, to be the performer at the dance. Each year at my school, every Christmas eve, they have a dance. Were you dress up, go with a date, and have fun. They also have a little group perform live for one song, the final song. This year they wanted me to. So i just said sure.
"Awesome for you sweetie." My daddy pinched my cheeks.
I blushed.
I turned to see Gemma standing there with a smile on her face. "Gemma!" I hugged her. She was cool. Unlike my dads past girlfriends. They were all stuck up. I truly liked Gemma. Not that she was my mom, but she's nice.
"Hey Lizzy! Long time no see. Wow you've grown! Did you do something to your hair?" She looked me over and nodded in approval.
Instantly all eyes were on me.
Mom gasped,"You cut your hair? And highlighted it?!" She sounded angry. "I'm so proud! It looked gorgeous!!!" Okay maybe i was wrong. Sometimes she hated it when i did something to my hair. And sometimes she was proud and wanted me to be a stylist just like her. My mom's weird that way.
The others agreed.
"Hey Lizzy, i don't believe you've met Austin." Gemma said.
"I don't believe i have." I answered.
So that's what his name was. I've FaceChat my dad a few times were he has asked if i would like to met Austin, but every time he called up to Austin he was always doing his homework. So i always thought he might be shy and a little nerdy. There's nothing wrong with that though.
I turned to were she was looking over my shoulder.
The boy standing there, well lets just say......
He defiantly isn't a nerd.
