I STOOD STILL, not breathing as I waited for Brent to fall to the ground. I can't believe I let this happen to him. I prayed that he would be okay.
If he dies, everybody would be heartbroken. And it would be all my fault. It wouldn't matter if everybody forgave me or not. It would be my fault.
Waiting, helpless, on the ground was the worst thing I have ever endured. I rather die than watch somebody I love get hurt.
But Brent never fell down.
Instead, Jax was the one who fell to the ground, and several cops came rushing in all around us. The gun that was in Jax's hand was on the ground by Brent.
"Jaxon Knight, you are under arrest for kidnapping and attempted murder," one of cops said as they handcuffed Jax.
Blood was gushing out of his shoulder, but he didn't look fazed by the pain. He looked at me with a neutral face before they made him walk away.
I finally got off the floor, and I hobbled my way over to Brent who was taking deep breaths. When he saw me walking towards him, he started walking towards me.
"Are you okay? I'm sorry that I–..." he started, but his cut off by my lips kissing his.
I wrapped my arms around his neck, and he put his arms around my waist. The kiss was delicate and warm. When we broke apart, I rested my forehead on his.
"Brent Mason, I love you, but if you ever put yourself in that kind of position again, I will murder you," I said with a tiny smile.
"I love you, too. Are you okay?" He asked me, gently brushing my sides with his fingers.
I nodded,"I am now since I'm with you."
He smiled, and I hugged him. But then I remembered Leah. I pulled my head off his chest, and I looked up at him.
"Where's Leah? Is she okay?" I asked him, concerned about my little sister.
"Calm down. She's okay. She was running out of the doors when I parked my car. I made her get into the backseat, and I gave her my phone to watch a movie so she wouldn't be freaking out," Brent explained, calmly.
"Thank you," I thanked him as relief spread throughout my body.
"Anytime," he replied before I laid my head on his chest once more.
I almost lost Brent. I almost lost my entire world in just one second. I'm never letting him go again.

"Are you sure you want to go the hospital? They would understand if you didn't. I mean it's only been a week since–..." Mom asked, worriedly.
