Irene

I woke up in the hospital from the dream. I know it was the past and I couldn't stop crying. I looked around the room and saw Lisa looking at me with a sad expression.

I wanted to punch her and beat the crap out of her. She lied to me and Taeyeon. She lied about having back up. I felt so angry at her. I was about to yell at her until she broke the silence.

"They're gone. They're all gone." She started to cry, but I didn't feel anything but hate towards her. I stayed quiet.

"I know you must hate me, but it wasn't my fault I really did send out some troops to be outside of the building. They disappeared." I stopped feeling hatred and started to feel worried.

"W-what happened to them?" I looked at Lisa and I could see the sadness in her eyes.

"I don't know. One second they were outside the building looking fine, the next, the whole entire squad vanished without a trace. I don't know what happened to them." She started to sob and all I could do was sob with her.

I lost my only friend and partner due to my carelessness. If only I listened to what Taeyeon said about her having a bad feeling. If only I had not let my guard down with the man, if only I stayed with Taeyeon until her last breath.

I lost my happiness that day and I could tell that Lisa felt sorry for that as well. When I got discharged, Lisa took me to our police department. I walked in and saw no one for the first time in my life. Lisa wasn't joking, everyone vanished without a trace.

I looked at all of the desks and they still had things on it, pictures, mugs, documents, and more. I wonder what really happened. I walk over to my desk which was right in front of Taeyeon's desk and look at all the pictures I have with me and Taeyeon.

I walk over to Taeyeon's side and I look at what she had on her desk. Her desk was filled with decorations and pictures with me and her together and I couldn't help but cry. I started to put things away from her desk.

I put all of her things in a box and I decided to keep it for myself. I didn't ever want to forget her. I put the box under my desk, but when I went under my desk, I saw a little crack and there was a little letter there.

I was confused so I went back over to Taeyeon's desk to take a closer look. I look around and I finally spot a hidden compartment. I smiled to myself knowing that she would do something like this. I opened the compartment and took out the letter. I looked at who it was addressed to, and I got shocked when it was to me. I opened the letter and began to read it.

Dear Bae Joohyun

Heya! It's Taeyeon. I know I might be a little paranoid about this last mission, but my gut is telling me that I won't make it, so I'm writing a little letter to you just in case. I was very happy that you took me out to the arcade tonight.

I had a lot of fun and it was really funny seeing you jump in your seat during the horror game. I couldn't help but laugh at how cute you are. I know you suck at horror games and it really touched me that you decided to go on it with me.

I could tell that you were worried about me as well and I wasn't surprised that you could tell. You are my partner after all haha. These past years have been great. It was a little hard to get to know you at first, but once I did get to know you, you became someone very important to me.

I felt like I needed to protect you. The first time I met you, you were a little shy, but I could tell that you would be a good officer. Even before I met you, I spoke to Lisa about who my partner was going to be and she told me that you were going to rank second as soon as you joined.
