KING REMUS'S P.O.V.
A heavy sigh left my lips as I gazed at my merione's unconscious body in the middle of a high grade vacuum prison. A soft chuckle left my lips as I realised how much she had fooled us all along, us, The Kings, but then again she is also the Lost Heir, who inherited the legendary sonar powers from King Laxmion, and the heavenly beauty of Queen Mariana, the girl we were supposed to bond with, to strengthen our relations with Zorion.
I still remember the day when father told us about this bonding, we were horrified, our whole life we had fantasised about meeting our merione, and suddenly we were being told who to bond with. It came as a huge shock to us, but it wasn't uncommon. Our father's merione, the person father was always with was not our mother, Mirella, our mother, never had a merione, for reasons unknown, but we were her children, our mother is a extremely cold and calculative person, which was expected from her family line, sometimes Rowan doubts she might even have abandoned her merione.
Though in all this politics, there is one thing I still don't understand, why would the zorions kill one of their kind along with our king even though we had signed the peace treaty? I just don't get it.
I was broken out of my chain of thoughts when I felt someone tapping my right shoulder.
"How is she?"
I sighed at Alistair's question, and turned to him. He looked tired, his long coat was no where to be seen, his shirt had its top few buttons unbuttoned, his hairs ruffled and he had dark circles around his eyes.
He is not sleeping. the look on his face and the amount that surpasses a normal human ability was something beyond science's understanding at the moment
"Why don't you go rest? I will tell you once she regains consciousness. You know it will take time for her to heal, she has exhausted herself, the healer said that the water inside the cage is mixed with a high dose of medicinal essence, it will take time for her to wake up."
He gave me a sardonic smile as he watched Aurora floating peacefully in the vacuum cage.
"Do you really think I am heartless enough?"
I heard Alistair snarl making me flinch in surprise. I watched him as he gazed at Aurora, or specifically her blackened hands, as if he was trying to heal them. A frustrated sigh left my lips as I watched him clench his jaw so tight that I wondered why hasn't it broken yet. I turned away from Alistair and decided to leave for my room. A cold ache kept spreading in my heart whenever I remembered all the things that had happened as I walked towards my glasub.
I took a deep breathe in as I walked up the podium on the top of the arena. My heart felt heavy as I realised what was about to happen. Kina had escaped, with the help of Finn, though we still couldn't figure out how, and that was not even the start of the problem, apparently the council was suspicious of us having a Zorion with us, thus we had to let them punish Finn at the very least to satiate their anger. I sighed in frustration as I watched the excited crowd cheering for the upcoming execution, but a heavy feeling had settled in my lower chest whenever I thought of that flimsy tiny hybrid, getting brutally executed, although now that I think about it, he had been quite powerful to begin with. That must be because of his genes, but how did he evade the attack back when we took him to the arena for the first time? His opponent was frozen, and after some investigation I found that he reported that his body had completely frozen.
Why the heck did that happen?
I looked at Rowan who was sitting at my right, he looked indifferent, but I could see the slight twitch in his little finger, he was at the edge too. Even Alistair didn't have a single girl fawning over him today. Magnus, who was generally lost in his controller or books was today not paying a single glance to them. Everyone was anxious. But it wasn't like we could or should be doing something.
