I laughed as Sokka tried to impress me with his "skills" as I tried to do the laundry. I laughed harder as he fell over from slipping on some ice, " Are you okay?" I smiled as I helped him up " Yeah I'm fine" he went all red clearly embarrassed. I kissed his cheek gently " I love when you make me laugh" " I love hearing your laugh". I felt my own cheeks go red as he smiled at me " Are you two done?" Katara asked as she walked into the room " Yeah, sorry" I smiled. " So are you nervous?" she asked me as I continued cleaning " Nervous for what?" I asked raising my brows " Duh! Your sixteen tomorrow, you'll finally be told about your soul mate!" Sokka yelled " Not that you need to because it's obviously me" he smiled.

I smiled back at him " I actually forgot all about that, and I'm sure it's you Sokka. It's always someone from the water tribe" " That's true, we haven't branched out to the other nations for soul mates in over a hundred years" Katara pointed out. " Hey, maybe the soulmate bond knows about the war too" Sokka joked making me giggle, " So Kala have you asked your mother about your hair yet?" I stopped and sighed " I've tried so many times Katara, but every time I ask she just shoots me down and leaves the house. I think I'm just going to have to accept that she'll never tell me why my hair is this colour" I sighed as I grabbed a strang of my long hair.

" Hey don't be stressed" Sokka smiled at me " I'm sure it's just something spiritual, ya know? Maybe something happened the day you were born that changed your hair" " Yeah maybe, spirits are weird like that". That night I slept roughly, I couldn't keep my dreams at bay. I kept dreaming of my soulmate being a murderer or thief and being pulled away from Sokka.

I woke up suddenly to someone calling my name, I jumped up when I saw Sokka standing beside my bed. " You okay?" He asked with a worried expression, " Yeah I'm fine, bad dream" " Well Katara and I are going fishing for the village so I'll be back later tonight, I just wanted to give you your present before I go". " Sokka I thought we agreed no presents" " No you said, I ignored" he smiled as he gave me a small box " Enjoy your birthday" he kissed me gently before leaving. I smiled as I opened up the box and gasped, it was a beautiful water tribe necklace. It was similar to Katara's except it had one large circle instead of three small ones.

I dressed in my usual water tribe clothes and smiled at my mom as I walked into the next room. " Good morning mom" " Good morning Kala" she smiled as sat some food in front of me " Eat quickly, the villages soul binder is waiting for you" " Already? I thought I wasn't supposed to see her till noon" " Apparently she's all ready for you". I ate quickly before putting on my coat and taking a deep breath " I know your nervous Kala but trust me today is going to be the most exciting day of your life, and I have a feeling your already with your soulmate" she smiled at me as she referred to Sokka " I hope so, okay I'll see you later".

I stopped outside the big doors of the villages soul binder, I took a deep breath before knocking on her door " Ah you must be Kala" she smiled at me "I've been waiting for you" " Sorry I took so long" I bowed " Not at all, come inside and we can begin". I took my coat off and my shoes as I followed her into a room, I sat down with my legs crossed as she sat opposite me. " This is going to be an interesting one" she smiled to me in excitement. " Give me your hand" I slowly gave her my hand and say nervously as she grabbed it in her own, she closed her eyes and started to speak in a different language.

Her eyes furrowed in confusion before opening her eyes and staring at me " Strange" she said " Very strange". I looked at her confused " Is something wrong?" " Your soulmate is not from our water tribe" " What?!" I asked, my eyes widening " But everyone's soulmate has been from here for over a hundred years!". " I know, but yours is not from the water tribe. He's from a different nation" my eyes widened in shock " A prince" " A prince?!". " Your hair" she said as she took some in her hands " The colour of your hair represents something from him, the colour red". I looked at her confused " How am I meant to find him?" " He will find you, sooner than you think. You will both struggle and fight but once the war is over you two will wedd. Your love will blossom as the war continues and it will bring you closer".

I looked at her and nodded " Is there anything else?" " No, that is all I can see" I stood up and bowed to her " Thank you for telling me" " I know you will have to break a heart, but he will understand. He will he heart broken yes, but his soulmate is too from another nation" " She is?" " Yes, from a small island, he will travel there soon and there he will find her" " I'm glad he'll find her and be happy, thank you" I bowed again before getting my things and leaving. I couldn't stop thinking about what she said as I made my way home, " A prince?! Where in the world am I ever going to meet a prince! And my hair is red because it represents him! I've never heard of that before". I looked at my mom as I walked inside and her smile she gave me vanished " What's wrong?" She asked worriedly " Is your soulmate a criminal?".

" No nothing like that" " Then what's wrong?" " It's not Sokka" " Oh sweetie I'm so sorry" " He's not from the water tribe, he's from a different nation" " What? That hasn't happened in a hundred years". " She said my hair is red because it represents him, and that I'll meet him sooner than I think" " She can't be right, nobody has left the North Pole since the men went to war. And nobody has come here in ten years". " You said yourself she's always right" " I know I just can't believe it. That means you'll be leaving" " And I have to tell Sokka" I cried. My mom pulled me into a hug " He'll understand Kala, he's a strong boy" " I know, I just thought it would be him I'd be spending my life with" " It will all work out in the end Kala, I know it. Sokka should be back any minute why don't you wait for him".

I sat on the wall as I looked out for him, I held the necklace around my neck and sighed " I don't want to break his heart, I'm not ready to let him go". The sun was setting and the moon was almost finished rising, Sokka and Katara weren't back yet and I was getting really worried. " Kala don't be stupid, you can't go out there in the dark to find them, you'll get yourself killed" " What am I supposed to do, they're missing" " I'm sure they'll turn up on the morning, get some sleep if they aren't back in the morning then we'll look for them". I nodded and went to bed, please be safe.
