Emotions ran high in the aftermath of the barn-Walker massacre. I refused to talk to anybody, my voice gone for a short while and my throat scratchy. How could Hershel keep Sophia in there and not tell us? Maybe he didn't know it was our Sophia.
I was starting to think the entire world was changing for the worst, hell, maybe the world needed a change. Good or bad.
I watched Hershel leave his farm and I followed him. We landed up at a bar in the middle of the local town, seating ourselves in silence. Why was I taking this harder than the rest of the group? Sophia wasnt even my child... I absolutely could not hold my liquor but it helped me forget that pretty little girl who died. She was like a little sister to me and I lost her too. Was I going to lose everyone by the time this wave ended? Would I even be alive? I didn't want to know what it felt like to lose the rest of my family so I was contemplating leaving in my drunken state, however my moral compass seayed towards the group. We protect our own.
I was laying over the bar counter, relishing in the coolness of the wood when two familiar faces walked into the bar. I ignored Rick's voice promptly, just wanting to succumb to my potential alcohol poisoning and die. Glenn pulled me up towards his body, making me lean against him for most of the part. I was falling asleep to Rick and Hershel's conversation, my mind fogging in and out of consciousness.
"Just leave me." I moaned with my words slurred against Glenn's chest.
A couple of strangers entered the bar, immediately sobering me up. One couldn't trust anyone in this new age, so I had no choice but to gather what wits I had left in my drunken state. I realised I left my blades back on the farm. The strangers introduced themselves as Dave and Tony. Rick and the two exchanged some words before I could feel the air becoming tense. The men were desperate and they implied that they are willing to use force to obtain what they wanted. They were no match however for Rick's instincts and quick reflexes, and got shot when they finally made a move to attack. Rick walked right into my face, furious.
"Next time you want to go out on a limb, you tell someone!" He snarled at me, something in his eyes fueling his fire. Why did I recognise that emotion?
I shrunk back into Glenn, scorned. Why couldn't I be free to do whatever I wanted to do? I was an adult woman!
We attempted to escape, but three other men had arrived in search for Dave and Tony. I glared at Rick to keep his mouth shut when the guys were questioning outside the bar but he confessed to killing the men. I groaned in disdain because a shootout happened and glass went flying. Rhe loud shots made the nagging pain in my head grow. I had glass everywhere; mixing in with my brown hair, in my hands and in the soles of my shoes. Walkers started to arrive in the town upon hearing the gunfire and we took that as our singnal to start moving and quickly. Hershel inadvertently caused Sean's death when he injured him and leaves him helpless to escape from the Walkers. The two shooters attempted to flee, but one of them impaled his leg on a gate, causing his friend to abandon him. Rick was shouting at me to leave him but I couldn't. He was only a kid, maybe twenty four? Four years younger than me. I tried my best to wiggle his leg out of the peg but he kept screaming making more Walkers arrive. I looked at my surroundings frantically.
"Just keep quiet, you're gonna get us all killed!" I hissed at the boy frantically looking around.
I was breathing in a panicked manner before Rick decided to run back towards me and promtly yanked the boy, Randall's leg off the spike. I threw up all the contents of my stomach at the sight of blood and flesh flying.
"What are we going to do with him?" I asked Rick tinidyle after we arrived safely at the farm.
"I plan to send him away away after his leg heals up." He said in a cutting tone, still angry with me.
