Chapter 4: A Step Closer

Today Jennie woke up hours earlier than her usual time. She gave extra efforts to get herself ready for school. She wanted to look better than she have ever looked before. Her aura was so positive today. The gummy smile did not left her face even for a second.

She reached school early today. She didn't wanted to be late. She waited for a certain someone to show up. Thank God Lisa always comes early to school. Soon she saw Lisa walking towards her locker.

Even though she looked so confident from outside but inside she was very nervous. What if Lisa still treat her like before? She was scared of that. She took a deep breath to calm her nerves and then went towards Lisa.

"Good morning Lisa!" Jennie exclaimed with a gummy smile.

Lisa stopped from what she was doing. She knows this voice very well. She turned around to see Jennie looking magnificent. Jennie always looks stunning but today is something else. She gulped as she thought about what she said yesterday. She wanted to make peace with Jennie and give her a chance. Maybe it's time to stop this stupid fight? She has been planning to stop it and live alone but Jennie keeps running after her.

"G-Good morning K-Kim." Lisa greeted her with a small smile. It was the first time Lisa ever greeted Jennie. She was embarrassed.

Jennie's smile widened even more (if it's possible). Yes! Lisa really greeted her with a smile!!! She is thankful that Lisa didn't changed her mind again.

"Hey! Umm... I'm happy you replied without yelling at me. I mean like you usually do. I am not saying you are rude, I was saying tha-" Lisa cut off Jennie's nervous rambling with a soft laugh.

"I understand Kim. And I wanted to apologize for my behaviour. I have been very rude to you always. I am sorry about it." Lisa said scratching her nape nervously.

Jennie smiled. "I will accept this apology if you agree to have a coffee with me after school!" Jennie asked with hopeful eyes.

"I- ahh..." Lisa looked at Jennie. She can't say no to that hopeful eyes. "O-okay. I could go with you for a coffee." Lisa agreed.

Jennie squealed loudly. "Thank you! I will wait for you at the gate after school!!!" Jennie said with excitement before she she ran off to find Jisoo and tell her everything.

Lisa looked at her tiny retreating back and shook her head with a smile on her face.

The school hours were over. As soon as the bell rang, Jennie collected her stuffs in a flash and stood by the school gate, waiting for Lisa. She hopes Lisa will not ditch her.

On the other hand, Lisa was nervous. She slowly walked towards the school entrance hoping that Jennie forgot about their meeting but as soon as she reached there, she was the pretty brunette waiting for her by the gate. She sighed as she walked towards Jennie.

"Hey!" Lisa greeted Jennie as soon as she approached her.

"Hi!!! You ready to go?" Jennie smiled sweetly at her.

"Y-Yeah..." Lisa nodded. Jennie started to walk towards the nearby café shop with Lisa in tow.

They walked side by side, silently. Both of them don't know how to start a conversation. They both felt awkward. They hoped that it won't be so awkward once they reach the café.

It took 10 minutes for them to reach their destination. The café was busy. A lot of people were there at this hour. Fortunately they found a place for them to sit at the corner. They sat down and order their desirable coffee and waited for it to be served.

"So? How's study going?" Jennie was the one who broke this uncomfortable silence between them.

"Umm...good. How about you?" Lisa asked.

Jennie pouted. "You know I'm not a genius like you. My mathematics grades are very low. I study hard but I just can't understand all these problems."

Lisa smiled looking at Jennie. She looked so cute with that pout. "It's very simple you know. Once you understand it comes all together."

"That's the problem! How would I solve them when I can't understand them!" Jennie said whining.

"I could help you with that..." Lisa's mouth said it before she could stop herself. She internally smacked herself.

Jennie's eyes widen when she heard that! Did she heard it correctly? "Really? You will help me study???" Jennie asked, her eyes showed excitement.

"umm...yeah. I could help I guess? I have few hours free. We can study in the library after school." Lisa suggested.

Jennie nodded her head like a child. "Yes! We can start from tomorrow if you are free."

"Alright!" Lisa nodded. Soon the waiter came with their coffee. They enjoyed their drinks while talking with each other. Both of them wanted to know about each other. It was a good start!

 
"So... I'll see you tomorrow?" Lisa said. They finished their coffee and now they were standing outside the shop to go home.

"Yes. And I wanted to say something to you." Jennie said biting her lips nervously. She wanted to finish this now! She wanted Lisa as her girlfriend not just friend! She can never see Lisa as her friend. She wanted a chance to prove herself that she can be the one Lisa wants to be with.

"Yes what it is?" Lisa asked curiously eyeing a nervous Jennie. Nervous Jennie is cute.

"I like you Lisa. Not as a friend. I think you know that already. I just wanted to make it clear. Since we are having this closure between us, I wanted to make sure that you know that I want you to be my girlfriend. I know you don't like me like that yet...but I want you to give me a chance to prove that I can be the one for you. Will you please give me a chance Lisa?" Jennie bite her lips waiting for Lisa to answer.

Lisa paused. Jennie's words were finally sinking in her brain. She already knew Jennie wanted her more than a friend. When she made up her mind about this closure, she decided to give Jennie a chance to make her fall for her. She knew deep in her heart that it won't take time for her to have feelings for Jennie.

Lisa sighed. "O-Okay... everybody deserves a chance. But I can't guarantee that I would fall for you Jennie."

Jennie smiled. "You don't have to worry about that. I will make sure you fall for me! Thank you for giving me a chance." Jennie decides that this may be her happiest day of her life. Lisa finally gave her a chance! She just had to work hard to prove her love to Lisa! That was her goal! At least she got the a step closer to her goal today!
