Chapter 1-2: The Great Seven

"Ah! It's lunchtime!" Grim exclaimed joyfully. I surpressed a snort at that. He's so lazy when it comes to class and yet he perks up immediately when lunchtime comes around. He reminds me of my cousin. I wonder how Naga is doing.

I grabbed some food. Namely an omelet, some hamburger steak, some vegetables, and I reached for a lovely dessert. My hand brushed against someone else's and they turned to growl at me. "HEY! Who do you think you are?"

My eyes flashed gold out of fear at first, but then I found myself so I growled back. The two of us were locked in a staring contest before the student turned away. "Whatever! I didn't need that dessert anyway!"

I rolled my eyes as they turned emerald green once again. Grim was impressed by my eye change, but pride overtook it. "Heh! All bark and no bite! You sure showed that guy Vermillion!"

I smirked, grabbing the dessert and sitting down at a table. Ace and Deuce sat across from us and Deuce asked the question I expected. "How did you do that?"

I swallowed the piece of hamburger steak I was munching on before replying, "With my eyes? It's natural. My father's eyes are golden. My eyes only flash gold when I feel that I'm in danger, I'm frightened, I want to assert my dominance as a strong person, or I'm angry as hell so start running. Get it now you two?"

They both nodded and then a thought crossed my mind. "I've seen the Heartslabyul dorm but I'm curious about what the other dorms look like."

"You've seen the statues of the Great Seven, right? Each dorm is based on them." Cater replied next to me, making me jump and my eyes to flash golden. I whirled to stare at him with wide eyes.

"Cater-senpai?! Stars above, you scared me! Don't just appear out of nowhere like that!"

"Oops. Sorry, Lia-chan! I didn't mean to scare ya."

"It's fine, you've learned."

Ace and Grim didn't look happy about his arrival and Cater noticed the gold turning to my natural emerald color. He decided not to say anything about it. Deuce furrowed his eyebrows. "You're the one who tricked us and looked happy about it."

"There, there Deucey. It's not like I wanted to, just the dorms rules. Now, rules like that don't matter, so Cate here is just your gentle senior."

"P-Please don't call me that senpai!"

"That's just how Cater expresses his affection." A new voice said. We all turned to see a green haired male with yellow eyes. Glasses and a club mark were defining features so I took note of it. "Quis es (Who are you)?"

The male quirked any eyebrow and I cleared my throat before saying, "Who are you? Sorry, I'm used to speaking Latin that I sometimes forget that not everyone knows it."

"You're interesting. Also, you're fine. My name is Trey Clover. You are Vermillion von Fenris, correct?"

"Correct."

"He's just casually sitting next to me." Ace said with a surprised look.

"We are from the same school so let's try to get along~. Hey, how about we exchange phone numbers?"

I was confused. Ohhhh, that thing Naga showed me. "I don't have a phone. Then again, I use a different form of communication than you do."

Cater wasn't having it. "Never owned a phone? You're like an endangered species! How about I take you shopping for one? It can be a date!"

"Veniam in me (Excuse me)?" I asked with a deadpan look. Trey chuckled at my Latin.

"Cater, I think that meant excuse me as a question. You two haven't know each other long, so take out the "date" part and you're good."
