Even after the semester ended and labor finalized and presented, my class, mainly I, don't we attend the House of Assistance Saint Rose. Those children had left a very good impression on us. And yet we wanted to help, within our possibilities.
As for me, in addition to the children I had another reason to always come back in the House to support. Juliana. I was hopelessly in love. I think she realized, mainly because my visits are methodical and prolonged.
Anyway, Dahlia and John also had conquered me. And visit both was a pleasure. Just to see the smile on the faces of kids have made me very happy.
Over time I also learned to communicate using sign language and I've talked to John quietly.
- <How are you today? > I'd ask him, making the signs.
- < I'm very well. I'm always so when it comes to visit us >. Replied John.
What surprised me most in the brothers was the incredible will to live. Had a genuine joy, which you could see in a few.
And I was always around Juliana, to learn how they were carrying children in General and especially John and Dahlia.
And of course in the meantime I talked with Juliana on other matters. Within these conversations I heard her marital status: single. I was euphoric, but restrained myself so that she didn't understand.
Other support House staffers kept telling me that I wasn't being very efficient in trying to conceal my delight and interest in Juliana.
After some time really I demonstrated my interest in her, I asked her out and she said yes. A month after we started dating.
Imagine the joy our children and because they were having fun too me and Juliana. We were the ones who gave more attention to them.
The House of Assistance Saint Rose was a home run by the Catholic Church, and had a nun as Director. Support needed to continue working and this came from donations of NGOs and anyone who decides to donate.
There was not much participation from the Government, because it was a private place. Despite this could maintain a balance very well. And so nothing was missing children and other people who were dependent on the institution.
The House was big, had several rooms. Once had been a technical school and had its location right next to the field and that was part of the charm of the place. Very green. A lot of plantation. In the back was a vegetable garden that was cared for by the residents themselves. There was a lake that also used for fishing and bathing.
The place itself was very well maintained and well managed with an iron hand by Sister Catherine. A good woman of Italian origin who had entered for the convent since adolescence. And always loved children and the needy.
Officer Douglas. My biggest concern is the lack of support. Really live donation is complicated, but with what we've got to live up to peacefully if there is unnecessary spending. Sister Catherine said.
- And what would be your biggest concern? I Asked.
- The House won't have more space to accommodate all those who need help. I have noticed with concern that are increasing the number of needy. Both special child or young adults who also were forgotten by their families. The work that is done here is all geared toward that their tenants have a dignified life and to be reintroduced to society, without causing so much dependency.
"In the case of children working is more special and in some cases the adoption is a very viable option. Here are preparing to face the world that until then had been too harsh with them. "
- I understand Sister. And that depends on me and others cannot be expected to always be available to help when it is needed.
Thanks Douglas.
