Everyone was in the practice room. They were preparing for the different showcases they would do in promotion for Empathy. The last song they did the choreography for was Black on Black.
Hua was so excited to perform with everyone. She got to hang out with the likes of Kun, Jungwoo, and Lucas, which she couldn't before as they weren't official members of the group.
They had done 5 takes already, recording each one so they can decide which would be the dance practice video. This would be the 6th time they did it, and they were all tired. They got to the section before Ten's dance solo, where they made a pyramid section, and Hua coming down from Johnny's back is where it went wrong. She landed on Jungwoo's foot, causing her own to roll underneath her and cause a loud crack. Johnny and Jungwoo lurched forward to catch her before she fully dropped to the floor. Her eyes welled in pain, and she rolled her lips into her mouth to prevent herself from crying out in pain, The others continued until they saw Hua lowered to the ground and the music stopped abruptly. Hua blocked everything out, trying to focus on not crying, but that went out the window when Taeyong had asked what happened and moved her ankle to see where it hurt after being told she hurt it.
Hua let out a cry of pain and held her hand up to her eyes to stop tears from leaking out. The older members gathered an ice pack and moved her gently, allowing the staff to help and shield her from the concerned dreamies. The medic on site did the same as Taeyong but noticed the immediate bruising and swelling of her ankle as well as a slight deformity. The medic discreetly suggested the hospital to Taeyong, and he agreed, telling the others practice was over and to return to the dorms. He held back Johnny, Kun, and Doyoung, suggesting they go to the hospital with her and he would stay behind with the others to keep them updated.
Hua was gently lifted down the elevator and out to the company car, Johnny sat at the front with Hua laying across Doyoung and Kun's laps. Kun played with her hair to keep her calm, whispering soothing words to her in Chinese whilst Doyoung kept the icepack on her ankle to help lessen the swelling that was happening. Hua's hand let out the occasional tear that had fallen, Kun wiping it away before the car stopped. Johnny got out and opened the door so they could get Hua into the hospital.
They all helped, and before long, Hua was sitting in a waiting room. Her pain was still there, but her tears had stopped. She felt there was no use in crying over what had happened. She was going to have to deal with this injury.
Taeyong had received a text from Johnny saying that they were waiting to be seen and the leader was quick to inform everyone. The Dreamies were talking between themselves, trying to get someone to speak to Taeyong before Mark was eventually pushed out of the speaking circle and trudged his way to Taeyong.
'Would we be allowed to call Hua, I know she has Johnny hyung, Kun hyung, and Doyoung hyung, but we all want to speak to her and cheer her up whilst she is waiting.'
Taeyong thought about it before nodding, 'I don't see why not, but don't take too long as we don't know how long it will be until she is seen.'
Mark thanked him and gave the dreamies a thumbs-up, causing Renjun to pull out his phone and call Hua, and she picked up immediately.
'Hey, flower, how you doing? We are all worried about you. Make sure you let us know what's going on.'
'I'm okay Jun and I promise to keep you informed-' Her words were cut off as Jaemin took the phone from Renjun's hand, the said boy giving the younger one a large scowl but not saying anything.
'How dare Nana's Moomin-girl get injured,' he pouts in between his words, speaking in his aegyo voice. 'How could nana let his Moomin-girl get injured, hmmm? you must be so bored waiting, but don't worry, Nana is here on call to keep his baby company-'
Words get cut off once more as Haechan got sick of the aegyo voice and took his turn, listening to Hua's giggle at Jaemin's antics before doing so.
'Sunflower, you better hurry up at the hospital, Jeno is holding Renjun back from tackling Jaemin after that gross display of aegyo, and I'm not sure how long he will be held. IF you are hungry, make sure to tell Johnny hyung or something, but I can promise you will have pizza at the dorm waiting. I will pass you onto Chenji now, bye.'
Jisung took the phone out of Haechan's hands calmly, which was different from how the 00 line was doing it. Jisung spoke first.
'Hey, hope you are okay, I just wanted to tell you that if you aren't quick, I will call you Noona for the rest of your life.'
Hua shuddered, 'Don't you dare Jisung Pwark, I have enough blackmail material to send to cizennies.'
Jisung squeaked before thrusting the pone to Chenle. 'Hiya flower, hope you are okay, just to let you know that whilst you are healing, Jisung and I will be like your servants.' Jisung huffed and scowled at his counterpart. 'Here is Jeno.'
Jeno took the phone out of ChenJi's palms and spoke, 'hi baby, I really hope you aren't too long, I think Mark is planning a movie night so I will let him speak but just know we will all be here to help you and that you can rely on us.'
Mark finally had his turn, 'hiya baby, I'm sorry about the others, but you know what they are like. Have you heard anything?'
'No...wait, I have just been called in.' she stated at the hand signals Johnny was giving her. 'I will tell you what is happening after. Love you all, bye.'
She hung up and was helped to stand by Doyoung who wrapped one of her arms around him, Kun doing the same with the other and they helped her to walk to where the doctor was leading them, Johnny spotting from behind.
She sat down, and the doctor inspected the wound whilst the older members explained what had happened. The doctor explained that it might be broken, but an x-ray would confirm it. He let Johnny help her to the x-ray, Doyoung, and Kun having to stay behind, but it allowed them to inform the others what was going on.
'Only you would damage your ankle baby mouse. We can't let you go anywhere.' Johnny mocked, shaking his head. Hua laughed, 'Not my fault. snoopy has a big ass foot compared to mine. He has clown shoes, I swear.'
Johnny pretended to look shocked and stayed in the room whilst the doctor was setting up the x-ray. 'I will tell him you said that.' Hua laughed more, and Johnny left before the x-ray was taken.
She was relieved when it was over but frowned at the thought of waiting longer. The doctor led both her and Johnny back to the others before inspecting the x-ray and telling them the news.
'Your ankle is indeed broken, however, not to the extent of needing surgery. We will just put on a cast to allow it to heal, and you will be on crutches for the time being. It shouldn't take long, so if there is anyone coming to pick you up, tell them you are nearly done, and whilst you do that, Miss Hua can pick the cast colours.'
Johnny, Kun, and Doyoung sorted that. Johnny phoned the company, Doyoung got the car sorted, and Kun informed Lucas, who told everyone. Hua picked a green cast, and the doctor wrapped up her ankle. Whilst he did this, Hua sat watching Youtube on her phone. Her eyes widened at a video she found, the recent comeback by StrayKids. She felt that the 00 line from her group and Straykids would get along well. The doctor broke her out of her reverie by patting the cast before handing her the crutches and booking a follow-up appointment.
They thanked the doctor, and the company driver came with the SM credit card and paid for all the treatment before the 4 of them headed home. Johnny decided to inform the fans what happened, and Hua fell asleep.
She woke up when they got home and was bombarded by everyone. They all decided to pitch in to help her with everything, and they all had great fun signing her cast, leaving cute messages for her. She couldn't ask for a better family.
