Chapter 8

“Nick what are you doing here?” I whisper-yelled as he slid me over and pushed himself to sit in between me and Evan.

“Who, Me? I’m just having some lunch with my personal assistant and my good old friend here.” He said, stating that last part through gritted teeth.

“I mean what are you doing here when you have that really important meeting that shouldn’t be over for another few hours?!?”

“Now, now Angie don’t get all riled up. People are starting to look over our way.” Nick said patting my head slightly as if to sooth me, but I quickly swatted his hands away.

“So, where were we?” He asked with that stupid smile of his.

“WE” I motioned between Evan and I “were talking about something important. So if you would be so kind as to—” I stopped myself as I noticed him pick up my fork and stuff a meatball in his mouth.

“Hey! You can have your mood swings and cut your meetings short and even interrupt our lunch date, but you can never eat food off of my plate. I don’t share!” I said as I glared at him.

“Did you just say lunch date? As in you guys are going out?” He said looking in between Evan and me with accusing eyes. Oh my, gosh this guy is unbelievable.

“Is that all you got from that??” I asked exasperatingly.

“There is no way I’m letting you guys go out. I am your boss and I’m telling you that dating will most definitely distract you from your work and I won’t have it. I need to you to be on call 24 hours of every day, not fooling around with some boy. No offence man.”

He kept ranting on and on while Evan dropped a fifty on the table, covering the food and tip and we both exited the booth. It wasn’t until we were at the door when Nick noticed us leaving, quickly running to us.

------------------------------------------------

Back at the office I refused to talk to Nick unless it was absolutely necessary. About 10 minutes before three, I decided to go into the conference room to set up for Mr. Walker’s meeting. I was laying out a booklet for each chair, when I heard the door open. I didn’t need to turn around to know that it was Mr. Walker. Still adamant on giving him the silent treatment I continue as I was doing.

“You know you can’t ignore me forever, you work for me.” Nick said taking a few steps closer to me as he sighed. “Listen, Angela I’m really sorry for acting the way I did today and for cutting your lunch short with Evan. It’s just the thought of you guys together drives me crazy. I don’t like it. At all. I don’t know, it’s just that ever since you’ve started working here you’re all I could think of. Especially after that night when I saw Drew forcing himself on you, I just wanted to rip him to shreds. I don’t like the idea of any other guy touching you that way.”

Completely shocked at his confession, I slowly turn around to face him. I was lost for words. I mean sure I’ve thought about him a few times a week. Ok maybe a few times a day, but I had no clue he felt the same. I mean the man has models thrown at him every day. What am I compared to them?

I opened my mouth to respond, but before my mouth could pronounce any words, the door opened and a whole bunch of men came flooding in. When they all took a seat I gave Mr. Walker one last look and made my way to the door.

----------------------------------------------------

After a very productive day of avoiding my boss who has just confessed his feelings to me, I was finally home. I dropped myself on my pillow, letting out all my frustration into it. I picked up my phone deciding to call Sam and ask her to come over and ask for her advice. Surely she would know what to do.

Half an hour later we were both seated on the couch, a bucket of popcorn in between us and a glass of wine in each hand.

“So this walking sex god basically confessed his undying love to you and you’re sitting here and asking me what to do instead of being locked up in his office and fucking his brains out? Have I taught you nothing grasshopper?” She asked me staring disbelievingly.

“Sam it’s not that simple. As much as I would love to be locked in his office for hours with him, I just think sex would ruin this whole professional relationship we have. I mean a personal assistant sleeping with her boss? How freaking cliché is that? Besides we barely know each other I’ve only worked there a few weeks. Despite all the chemistry I’m feeling I think I’m going to keep this whole thing professional.” I tell her with a stern finalized voice, despite the very naughty things running my head. The things we could do in that office!

-----------------------------------------------

The next day I decided to tone it down a little so I wore a simple sweater dress with some leggings and a pair of high heeled boots. I walked in to Mr. Walker’s office reminding myself to keep it professional.

“Good morning Mr. Walker. You have a lunch meeting with Mr. Anderson and a meeting after that at four with Mrs. Duntz regarding your share in her company.” I state while I put his cup of coffee down.

“Angela.” He said with a stern voice looking right into my eyes. That’s when I noticed his appearance. His hair looked like he ran his long fingers through it hundreds of times and his eyes looked like he hadn’t slept all night.

“Mr. Walker, I-” I was interrupted by his phone ringing. Whew! Talk about being saved by the bell. I quickly nodded at him and rushed out the door.

The rest of the day was pretty uneventful. I haven’t seen Evan all day so I figured I would just order Chinese and eat at the office.

After lunch I saw Mr. Walker strolling into his office, slamming his door on his way in. I hope the meeting didn’t go bad. I was about to get up and check on him when my intercom buzzed.

“Ms. Collins please step into my office, I need you to fix my printer.” He said with a low monotone voice. Quickly throwing the rest of my lunch away, I made my way into his office. When I came in I closed the door as I watched him fight it out with his printer. A piece of it broke off and he threw it aimlessly at the door hitting the door knob and landing on the floor with a thud.

“Are you going to be staring at me all day or are you going to help me fix this damn thing.”, his voice harsher than usual.

“Mr. Walker I don’t know anything about printers, let me just call one of the tech guys.” I say moving to the door. I reach for the door knob trying to open the door.

“Uh-oh.”

“What do you mean uh-oh?” he asked with a bored expression.

“I mean uh-oh the door is jammed.” I say with my eyes glaring back at him. I watched as he got up and stood by the door, pulling the door knob until it opened. He tried pulling one more time with all of his strength when suddenly he staggered a few steps back. I look in his hand to find the door knob detached in his grip. I rush over to the door and frantically inspect it trying to magically make the knob reattach itself to the door.

Nick and I both look at each other in disbelief.

This is definitely not how I pictured being locked in his office.

I tried making the chapter longer, worked really hard on it.

I would really love to hear some feedback. Good and bad are welcomed.
