The drive from the airport to my house is about half an hour, so during the drive Martin and I are able to catch up. During our conversation I learn that his daughter the same age as me has gotten engaged. He invites me to the wedding next year as our families are obviously quite close. I accept and then tell him about how work is at the moment and the rest of the stuff happening in my life, purposely leaving out the events from the other day. I don't want anyone else apart from Hero to know what Ryan did, in case the news gets back to my sister.

I am just looking out the window at the Fields and trees  when Martin turns up the radio and says with a smile "Do you remember when we used to sing this on the way to the bus stop?"
"Of course I do" I reply smiling as we start to belt out the lyrics to 'I'm gonna be" by The Proclaimers. This is one of my favourite songs as it just reminds me of home and the good times in my life, when I was care free.

The rest of the drive we listen to other songs from my childhood, which include 'Human' by the Killers, 'I'm On My Way' by The Proclaimers and 'Don't Stop Me Now' by Queen. These songs all happen to be some of my parents favourite song's also, so that's probably why I like them so much.

As we get nearer my parents house Martin asks me which way I want to go home. The options are either the fast main road, or the more leisurely shore road (my favourite road). Even though I want to see my family as soon as possible, I haven't been down the shore road in nearly a year and I miss the familiar way the sun hits the pale blue water making it glisten and sparkle.

We take the turning off of the main road and head towards the shore road. To get to it we have to go through the village that a few of my friends live in and the school that I went to for all of 2 months.

We reach the shore road and start to drive down it. It looks even more stunning than I remember. The sun is hitting the water at just the right angle and the nearby hills look full of life, whilst the mountains in the distance are capped with snow. These are the kind of things you take for granted when you live by them and miss when you move away.

I ask Martin to stop at one of the passing places so that I can get out of the car and take a picture, to remind me of home when I go back to London.

I get back in the car and we carry on towards our destination.

We join the main road again for a few minutes and then go back off of it onto a smaller private road that is surrounded by a coniferous forest.

We reach the security gates that signal we are now just about to see my favourite place. Kevin one of the security guards let's us through and I give him a smile and a wave, which he returns.

When we get through the gates I finally see the place where I feel most at home. A smile instantly breaks onto my face, as I see the familiar ginormous White House.

Martin stops the car by the front door and I get out and grab my suitcase. He then goes around to the side of the house where we have a small car park for visitors and staff. The main garage for our cars is under the house and more difficult to get to.

I pick my suitcase up, as gravel surrounds the house, which makes it extremely difficult to drag a suitcase over. I walk up the 3 large stone steps to the front door and ring the door bell. I hear dogs barking and a few seconds later the door swings open and I am greeted with my mums smiling face. She pulls me into a warm hug and tells me how much she has missed me. When she releases me, I see my dad behind her who is holding my Siberian Husky Hero by her collar. He then lets her go and she sprints over to me, jumping up and wagging her tail, clearly happy to see me.

My dad comes over and gives me a hug as well. It is a great feeling and I wouldn't want to be anywhere else except here, until I see a familiar figure behind him. One that I would rather not have seen for the rest of my life. The one that broke my heart only 2 days before.

Ryan comes over to me with a smile on his face. I carry on smiling because I don't want my parents to sense anything is off. He kisses me and I internally scream at myself for letting him. I quickly move away from him and say I'm going to put my bag in my room.

Before I can go up the stairs though my mum tells me "You look knackered, Mills. You can go for a nap now if you want so you are ready for this afternoon and tonight?"
"Okay, I will. Can you wake me up in like an hour please?"
"Of course Sweetie" she smiles and then goes through to the kitchen.

I make my way up the staircase by the front door. We have a few, one has a large tropical fish tank going through the middle of it, but that ones in the lounge and I am too tired to walk that far. I walk up to the middle floor, which is where most of the bedrooms and guest rooms are. I walk along the corridor to the third door from the end on the right and open the white door.

I am hit by the smell of coconut and vanilla as I walk into my bedroom dragging my suitcase behind me. It looks just as I left it. I walk over to my walk in wardrobe on the other side of the room and put my suitcase just inside the door and my handbag on my desk. I then take my trainers off and walk over to my teal, velvet bed. I chuck all of the decorative pillows and cushions into the matching ottoman at the end and then I pull back the blue marble duvet covers, that happen to match my feature wall and try to get to sleep.
