II: The meeting

James woke up, cold sweat dripping down his face.
"Holy shit what the actual fuck was this dream" he exclaimed, even though no one was around. James took a long time to recover from that nightmare and only managed to stop thinking about it because the young man got hungry. He stood up and realized he was basically soaked in sweat. The researcher decided to take a quick shower before venturing into the cafeteria.
He sat down with his hot bowl of soup and before he could start eating it a young lady walked into the room. Everytime James saw her the first thing that shot into his mind was "gorgeous".
She had long blonde hair,blue eyes, smooth skin and curves. James certainly had a few "dreams" ever since he first saw Kate.
"So James did you sleep well?" she asked while taking a seat next to him.
"O-oh not really." he responded staring into his soup and trying not to look at her.
"Oh did you dream about Tommy again James? I miss him too. That day was horrible."
"No I didn't d-dream about Tommy. Well kinda. It's hard to explain."
"If you ever need help James I'll always be there for you."
"I know K-Kate. Thank you."
"Well I gotta meet up with Thompson, I'm gonna visit you soon James!"
"Bye Kate." James said before quickly shoving a spoon full of soup into his mouth and then quickly spitting it back out into his bowl as the soup was clearly still too hot for him too eat.
Kate laughed and then left the cafeteria.
God I'm such an idiot James thought to himself.
He finished his soup and then got up to meet up with the rest of his crew. It was gonna be a big day tomorrow. They're gonna go down into an unexplored cave. James wasn't too thrilled considering the recent "fun" he had in a cave.
I hope this time nothing bad is gonna happen.
James met up with Thompson and the rest.
His crew wasn't that anything spectacular. You had Thompson, Kate, of course James himself, Antonio and Jay.
"So the nerd finally shows up. You needa hurry up more James my legs are tired from standing."
"Jay you arrived 2 seconds before James." Antonio said.
"Anyways, tomorrow is the big day. We're gonna explore that new cave. We might find some pretty useful information."
"Thompson, we are in fucking Antarctica. What information do you wanna find?"
"Now now not so pessimistic Jay. We will find something of value. Did you forget the crystal the found last time? It is a brand new gem that has been never seen before. It looked so much like the stone around it I nearly mistook it for just another pebble! And you see I also..." Thompson kept rambling about all the things he found in their last cave expedition.
"Mr. Thompson, c-could you please tell us the plan for t-tomorrow?" James interrupted Thompson.
"Oh yes I forgot, I looked inside the cave today. It was quite big and had a branching path. Me and Jay will take one, James together with Antonio the other. Kate you will stay here and keep in contact with us."
The meeting took about 30 minutes and after they were done James decided to eat. When he finally got to his room he sat down on his bed.
I hate this. Without Tommy it feels like a wasteland. Not even Kate manages to cheer me up.
James looked at the ceiling and got comfy in his bed. Before he was about to drift off into sleep he heard a knock on his door.
"Can I come in James?"
"Oh sure t-thing Kate."
Kate opened the door. She walked up to him.
"I just wanted to tell you good night."
"Good night Kate."
She gave him a short kiss on his cheek before quickly going outside leaving the young man with a very deep shade of red on his face.
Maybe she can cheer me up.
James fell asleep with a smile on his very red face.
