"To a happy twenty years." Mocked Lysandra. "Not yet! Let me enjoy my last week in my teenage years while I can." Aelin joked. Even saying it she felt guilt eating away at her. Some Children didn't make it to ten and it was all her fault. She was a coward. If only she was quicker. If only she was smarter. If only she was stronger. Her fault, her fault, her fault. She could have prevented the invasion. Hell she shouldn't be here joking she should be helping rebuild. Or at least preserving her energy to do so tomorrow. "And on that note I am going to head to bed." "Goodnight" Rowan took her hand and led them to their room.
As she and Rowan started to their room a swirling portal opened in their path. "What in the hell-" Rowan started. "The wrdkeys where destroyed nearly six months ago." I cut him off. Dread rising in my chest. "This should be impossible." Questions ran through her mind like a stampede of Gazelles. Rowan as if sensing her unease he hooked his arm around her waist. "Lets go get the rest of the court and send a Message to the others. We can figure this out together. Its going to be ok. " She took a breath and pushed down memories that threatened to overcome her. Putting on her best smirk she turned around and marched right back to the lounge.
Everyone grabbed their weapons as soon as we told them and marched straight to the portal. Aelin could tell that they were all taken aback by this. Nothing paranormal had happened sense... she shook off the memory. Why now?
"So you are meaning to tell me it just appeared out of nowhere...?" Sighed Aedion, running a hand through his hair. She had no response. That was response enough. "What are we going to do about it?" Lysandra inquired, twisting the metal band around her finger. It had barely been three months sense Aedion proposed. Aelin put on a grin as she responded "I have a plan." Everyone glanced over to her. Dragging her own stare from the still swirling portal, she began.
Her shit eating grin only grew " I'm going to walk through the portal an-"
A chorus of "Not a chance" and "over my dead body" and "no way in hell are you going to do that" began after she was barely able to finish half of her plan. I began "I'm doing it one way or another you know-" When a familiar roar rang through the castle. Elide began grinning as we all knew who came with that roar. "stop cutting me off!" she huffed.
Less than five minutes later a 'all that came with it' was staring at the portal as intently as we all had when it appeared. "I thought this shit was over." Manon grumbled her tone annoyed. "how long has it been open?" "Three hours or less" Fenrys replied equally terse. As if on cue it started to swirl shut. And Aelin ran straight into it.
