Camila was going crazy. Since tour had finished and she was at home all the time, she was struggling with what to do next, and having severe déjà vu back to just before she met Shawn. He was still quite busy, the film was in post production, he'd been called back in for ADR to replace some of the audio that wasn't clear enough, he had to have some photography done and some other things to do with CGI that she didn't understand, and the promo had already started with stills released from the set and interviews with movie magazines. Full promo was months away yet, but in the meantime he and his management were in talks with the producers regarding the spin off movie Barry had mentioned to him. They had signed up Adrienne and Yuvo again to write the script and they were working on that but had a rough outline. He wasn't sure about it yet, but he trusted them to come up with something amazing. Barry was already tied up with other projects but a hotshot young director who had made a name for himself making big budget action movies then switched to a few critically acclaimed character pieces was interested as he was a huge fan of the franchise. And he was writing again, when he was home, always on his guitar and piano, always scribbling in his journal.
It was just her. She didn't know what to do.
In the meantime, she reconnected with family and friends, worked on her meditation and mindfulness, her physical health, her partnerships with various charities and her endorsements, but she felt like she needed something else. As for her music, this limbo she found herself in seemed to have formed a creativity sinkhole and she literally couldn't even play a chord progression and get excited. They were in LA at the Hollywood Hills house because Shawn's work was there, but she had made a couple of flying trips to Miami and her family had visited her on in California as well.
Tonight she and Shawn were going to a dinner at the home of one of the producers who wanted to discuss the new movie with him. It was in the form of a casual meal, just the two couples. The producer was a young guy in his thirties and he was married to a famous ex-model who was now an influencer with a website and social media accounts with more followers than Camila herself. Camila was excited to meet her, she thought she was interesting, inspiring and hilarious. Her name was Kylleigh and she had touched base with Camila herself, because she knew that her husband, Leon, would monopolise Shawn and the women would be left to their own devices, at least at some part of the night. She told Camila to dress comfortably and casually. They had two young daughters who would no doubt crawl all over her with grubby fingers and play with her hair, so she wanted to warn her in advance.
Shawn was running late from a photo shoot he had promised to do for his friend Sam wearing his new merch line, but he had his clothes laid out and Camila was already dressed and ready to go. She wanted to make a good impression, she was The Partner in this scenario, his support, and it was important. She hated how UNimportant she suddenly felt, as if she was nobody and not a hugely successful musician and singer, but she knew Shawn didn't see her that way, and neither did Kylleigh, who had gushed over her and told her that she and Leon were such huge fans and couldn't wait to meet her. This was all internal, her own problem, and she just pushed it into the 'Fucked Up' column along with all her other hang ups at the moment.
Shawn ran in and stopped in the bedroom, letting out a whistle.
"You look spectactular," he said, looking and sounding in awe of her. She wore a white halter-neck, wide-legged pant suit and platform sandals, her hair in a high ponytail. It was fresh and classic and comfortable. Her manicure and pedicure were immaculate, her make up was natural and enhanced her beauty, and her jewelry was classic, hoops, the necklace and ring she wore both gifts from Shawn. She rolled her eyes as he threw on a pair of trousers, a vintage t-shirt and light designer cardigan and looked amazing. His hair had been done by Sam's hairdresser so he looked beautiful. She was just as proud of being seen with him as he said he was to be with her.
