"Wake up Mike!"exclaimed a female voice through the boy's bedroom door.
The brunette immediately recognized his ex girlfriend's voice an mumbled into his pillow before turning around, refusing to wake upé
"Mike, if you don't get up now, I'll tell Will that you didn't do anything in the album and you didn't care about his Christmas present!" El lost her patience.
Wheeler immediately got up and ran to his bedroom door. He opened it with a sharp blow before striking the brown hair girl with a dark stare.
"You wouldn't dare!" He exclaimed.
"No," Eleven, who was clearly making fun of him, laughed, "I just needed a good excuse to get you out of bed, now, come on, Holly is losing her mind downstairs, having to wait for you!"
"What time is it?" Mike asked, following Will's sister downstairs.
"10:30 AM," El noted. Mike was surprised his little sister had waited so long, usually she would be up at 8 o'clock, waking everyone one up, not being able to wait any more.
Both teenagers met the rest of the Wheeler family in the living room. Everyone was sitting in the same spot than the previous night so Mike sat between El and Holly, on the floor.
"Ok," Karen, the Wheeler children's mother, started, "I suggest that we all get turn receiving presents. We'll start with Holly, then we'll go around the room one after the other so no one will wait to long to get a present."
Everyone nodded, agreeing with Karen's idea, even though Mike mumbled inside, realizing he would be the last one to receive his present if we followed that order.
Ted's wife got up and took a red box decorated with pretty red and purple ribbons and gave it to Holly who hurried to open it. Inside was a doll that the blonde hair girl had seen a couple weeks again and hadn't stopped talking about it ever since.
Then came Nancy's turn, who got the newest book from a series she absolutely adored. Ted gave Karen a necklace, who jumped in his arm, too excited. Ted, on the other hand, got a Elvis record, who according to him was the kind of music and would never go out of style. Eleven got a sweater that she had seen a while ago with her new friends when they had went shopping a while ago. Finally, Mike's turn came. His mother tool an envelopp that was on a pile of coloured gifts, and she gave it him, smiling warmly to her only son.
Mike frowned, wondering what could possibly be in this envelopp. I was maybe a check from his grandparents on his father side since he wasn't going to see them during the Christmas vacation, they had prefered spending them in Florida. He opened with a shaking hand the envelopp and a handwritten note and not a check. He unfolded the note and read it for himseld, a little uncomfortable with everyone's eyes on him.
Open the door, your present should be there very soon.
Mike didn't understand what was going on, but got up anyway and walked up slowly to the door, feeling his heart beating wildly. Had his parents finally bought him the scooter he had been asking for, for months now?
At the same time he was going to open the door, the doorbell rang, which surprised the Wheeler boy who jumped back. However, he got over himself fast and opened the door. When he saw the person on the other side, his jaw opened and almost fell on the floor. No, that wasn't possible! He couldn't be here!
Mike swallowed and couldn't help himself but embrace the boy in front of him. He held him tight, ignoring all eyes on him, because Will hugged him just as tight, and nothing mattered anymore.
"Will!" the brunette exclaimed, tighting his embrace that much more.
"Mike!" the smaller boy answered, which made the Wheeler boy's heart melt.
However, Will broke free from his friend's grip and motioned for him to come inside, it's true that they were freezing outside. Jonathan and Joyce went inside and went into the living room, leaving the two teenagers alone.
"What are you doing here?" Mike immediately asked while Will was taking off his shoes.
"Well, basically," Will started after having taking his winter clothes off, "When my body finally stopped rejecting the antibiotics a miracle happened and last night I didn't have any symptoms or even a trace of the infection! I healed in a couple hours and the doctors didn't understand since it was a literal miracle. Anyway, they decided to keep me for the night to be sure everything was ok, but I am totally ok now, even though the cut is still fragile and scarring right now. They let me leave this morning and Eleven helped me prepare this surprise for you..."
"Why did you want to surprise me?" Mike questionned him, shiffting that much closer to the Byers boy.
"Because she succeded to come find us last night around like 10:30 pm," explained the young man, "and she showed me this letter you wrote and then threw in the garbage..."
"Wh-what letter?" Mike stuttered, feeling panic taking over his body.
"The one where you talked about how you imagined our Christmas morning a while ago and how you felt about me..." Will admitted, fidgetting with his fingers.
"Oh shit!" Mike exclaimed. "Will listen, I didn't want to be so creepy or scare you, I know this letter was a little too intense, I didn't want you to know everything I said in this letter and..."
"Mike!" Will interrupted him, a smile appearring at corner of his lip.
"What?" Mike asked, staring at the ground.
"I love you too," the Byers boy said, putting his left hand on the forearm of the Wheeler boy and putting his right hand under the boy's chin, before making him look up.
"Fo-for real?" Mike jumped.
"Yes, Mike, I love you, that's why I wanted to surprise you!" Will laughed, shiffting even closer to the taller boy.
Mike put his hands on Will's waist, as the latter moved his hands on the brunette's shoulders.
"But, what about Jason?" MIke inquired, rubbing Will's waist.
"He's old news, I only dated him because I wanted to forget you!" Byers answered. "Last time I chose him because I was afraid of him, but now trust me, there is no way that I ever choose someone else than you."
Will shiffted even closer to Mike, their chests now touching.
"I love you so much Will, believe me, I'll do whatever I can to give you the best life possible and the best relationship I can!" Mike promissed him, moving some of Jonathan's brother's hair behind his ear.
"I have no doubts you will, Mike, I know you were honest in your letter and I know how honest you are right now," Will reassured him, "Now, let's make you perfect Christmas real and finish opening up presents together!"
Mike warmly smiled to Will before taking his hand and starting to walk in the living room's direction. However, Will didn't follow him and made him stop in his track. Mike turned around, frowning, worried Will didn't want their families to know they were together. When he turned around, he saw the smaller starring at the ceiling. Mike looked up and saw a mistletoe on the ceiling. He couldn't help, but smile when he looked back down at the Byers boy.
"You know what that means?" the light brunette teased him,
"Heck yeah!" the taller boy smilled as he put his hands on Joyce's son's hips.
Will put his hands around Mike's neck and the latter kissed the boy that he loved's lips. The two boys felt their hearts beat wildly and it didn't take long until their tongues found each other's mouths, which was originally supposed to be an innocent kiss almost became a session of make out.
But the two teenagers didn't care about being innocent at the precise moment. No, they had other preoccupations, like the fact they had just found their safe heavens.
