Elly stayed against him, she still had a smile on her face from the way he was holding her. Gently, calmly, sweetly, just holding her against his chest. Quietly they swayed slowly side to side, the host picked up the mic and tapped it, getting everyone's attention.
The music stopped and everyone looked to the host, "Hello everyone, I'm very glad you are all here enjoying yourselves and the food. Personally I enjoyed the cake and pie eating contests, just because of how quickly this calm crowd turned to crazy cheers but I'm not complaining about that."
The crowd laughed some, "Well enough about me and my terrible bad puns. You all want to know who the cutest couple is here tonight, you all couldn't vote for yourselves so you all voted for some of the same couples. I have their names on this paper here, and we have their prizes here in front of me on the table. So without further-a-due, the winners are..... *He glanced around at the now tension filled crowd* Mister Blizzard and Miss Elly!"
She was shocked about their win, but Blizzard assured her that he didn't know about the competition. Apparently, someone else had registered their names into the competition. I wonder who though? None of the Gang had done it, they looked at Torga who had a steady grin on her face. Raven casually asked, "Did you put their names in the competition?"
Torga shook her head, "Of course not." Raven nodded, "That's goo-" "I had someone else do it for me." They looked at Torga who had no regret on her face, then at each other as Blizzard walked up to the front table holding Dark at his side.
They were given metals and a prize box for them to open when they wanted to. She was a bit nervous as the crowd clapped for them both. Elly felt a little nervous as they sat down at the group's table again.
She made soft whimpers as the crowd turned back to the host who kept talking. Raven reassured Elly as James put the box to his ear to make sure there wasn't a bomb in it. He couldn't hear anything but Blizzard could, he grabbed the box and threw it to the window, the box exploded when it left the window.
The crowd gasped and many started to panic, Dark grabbed Blizzard in fear as the box exploded. The Discord Gang knew it was time to leave, but a rain of bullets came through the window. Blizzard grabbed Elly and turned his back to the shower of bullets, the Gang made sure nobody in the building got hit by the flying glass and bullets as police arrived.
The shooters were quickly arrested as the people were checked but everyone was ok. Blizzard sat up still holding Dark protectively, she asked if he was ok since he had gotten hit. He assured her that he was fine, he showed her he had a bullet proof vest on. She asked him why, he rubbed the back of his head, "Well, when someone crazy runs up to you with a gun, you learn to be more careful at social gatherings." "Oh, that doesn't sound good."
He shook his head, "My dad bought it for me so just in case I'm at a gathering and a weirdo tries to shoot me I can still live." She nodded a little, "Guess it makes sense." Torga asked if she was ok, to which she was. Torga then thanked him for saving Elly's life, he didn't have a problem with it.
The group decided they had enough of the ball and Blizzard took them home. Elly asked where he was going, "I'm going to talk to my father about what happened. He knows about the court in this town so he can help figure out why we were all shot at. And, I'm going to get you a gift, one that won't explode."
He smiled calmly and stroked her head gently, "Don't worry, ok?" He said softly, the Gang watched from the inside of the house as he hugged her then watched her go inside the house. The Gang began to make sure the house was secure as Torga helped Dark get out of the dress in her room.
Torga walked to the group, "Dark is sleeping in her bed and-" She looked around confused, "What have you young ones been up to?" Raven explained that Bitzen had done her research on the rich guy, Blizzard, and found out he wasn't exactly a perfect person.
Torga asked why, Henry turned around to her, "Because he's a Super Villain."
