Adrien lay back on the bench, feeling himself sway for a while before coming to a stop. In the distance there was traffic, but far away enough not to bother him.

He thought of his cell phone, sitting on the coffee table at home. Just last week that thought would have sent Adrien into a near panic attack. But Marinette swore that switching off for a bit would do him the world of good and he had to agree.

He closed his eyes and drew in a lung full of the city air. He let the sound of birds fill his ears instead of the ticking of clocks. Here ten minutes was a long time and so the day stretched out like a small eternity. In his quiet contemplation, Adrien could think about love, the people he cherished and what was right with his life. Only one word.

Marinette.

She was his world and it was safe to say that the only reason he lived was to see her radiant smile.

He goofily smiled to himself and closed his eyes, before he was drawn into a deep sleep. He dreamt a wedding, two shadowy figures standing at the front of a church. One with golden hair and the other with midnight blue. Adrien immediately realised it symbolized himself and Marinette. But then again, their marriage had been inevitable from the time they were teens. They were inseparable. Each was the centre of the universe for the other. They were so relaxed in each other's company, so caring. Their love for one another radiated from them, touching the lives of everyone they knew. Or at least that was before the accident.

Adrien drew comfort in the fact that Marinette was still his. She would remember him eventually, right?

As he woke up from his nap, Adrien sat up and rubbed his groggy eyes.

He rubbed them again.

And again.

And again.

Before hurt filled his chest and tears filled his eyes.

For he saw his lady kissing a certain somebody that wasn't him.
