"Richard Tozier! Don't you dare ever do that again!" Eddie shrieked, standing up and wiping mud off of his front. "Ugh! Do you know how many germs are in this mud?!"
Richie scoffed and hopped out of the tree in Eddie's front lawn that he'd been hiding in. "Clearly not that many. I mean, they make face masks out of mud, don't they?" he asked, pulling his hoodie over his head to block the rain from hitting him. "I waited in that tree for a fucking hour in order to scare you, Eds. I almost got hypothermia for you."
"Well, thank you so much for waiting and scaring me," Eddie said, glowering at his boyfriend. "You could've waited in my room and not almost gotten hypothermia."
Richie shrugged. "It was more fun to see you fall in the mud," he said, shivering. "I'm going to go to your room while Sonia asks a bunch of questions about how you fell."
"I'll tell her you jumped out of my tree."
"But then she'll know I'm here."
Eddie paused. "Fuck." He handed Richie his backpack. "Go wait in my room for me. My mom is going to drive to see my aunt tonight so you can stay with me if you want."
Richie glanced at the window and saw that the shades were still drawn before he grabbed Eddie by his hips and pressed their lips together.
"Now we're both muddy!"
"Better excuse to shower together," Richie said with a grin, running over to the side of the house and clumsily climbing the tree to Eddie's room.
Eddie rolled his eyes and tried to keep himself from blushing too hard as he walked inside. He tried to be as quiet as possible, but his mom saw him walk in and called him over.
"Eddie! You're covered in mud!" she shrieked. "What happened?! Oh gosh, I have to cancel with my sister for tonight and take you to the doctor-"
"Mom, I'm fine," Eddie said, already annoyed by her freaking over him. "I just slipped and I'm going to go shower and clean it off. You don't have to cancel, I'll be fine here and if I get sick-"
She gasped. "You feel sick?!" she cried.
"No!"
Eddie looked up at the stairwell and saw Richie sitting at the top, laughing silently at his unsuccessful conversation with Sonia. He glared at his boyfriend and turned back to his mom.
"Honey, I need to call the doctor!"
"I'm fine, mom," Eddie said, more and more annoyed with both his mother and Richie by the second. "You need to pack and I need to shower. Aren't you leaving in an hour?"
Sonia looked at the clock and sighed. "If you feel sick at all-"
"I'll call you and the doctor here. Don't worry mom, I'm almost eighteen and I have to learn to take care of myself."
"Okay, sweetie." Sonia got up and walked down the hallway to her room which was thankfully located downstairs. "And I don't want you having any friends over while I'm gone."
Eddie knew he'd blatantly ignore that rule. In fact, he already was with Richie being upstairs. Sonia hated Richie and she didn't even know they were together.
"Goodbye mom, I'm going upstairs to shower and do homework," Eddie said, running up the stairs and opening the bathroom door to find Richie sitting down on the toilet.
"Am I in trouble?" Richie asked, seeing how annoyed Eddie was.
Eddie huffed and turned on the water. He stripped off his muddy clothes and climbed into the shower, standing under the hot stream.
