When people die, they end up in The Endless Void. Their Souls have not found their way yet, so they float in The Void until the light guides them through. When the Souls see the light, they then get transported to The Light Realm. There, they see a church, a book and a heart. The book represents all the chapters in the Souls life, and the heart represents the evil and chaos the Soul has had within. The lights from the book determines if the heart has been too chaotic. Thus, why you have to touch the book with the ooze, which comes from thou heart. When the book has decided where your Soul belongs, it then destroys the church. The church, represents your life. Now, this Soul is fully dead, and will be transported to the place it belongs. The Forbidden Garden is for the Souls with heartbreaking pages. The Void is for Souls with unforgivable chaos within thou heart. On some rare occasions, some Souls even become Lost Souls. These Souls wander the 3 realms, without any destination. The Souls spend the rest of eternity in said realm they belong to.
Some Souls, after some time, even gets to escape. 1000 years ago, millions of Souls in The Void escaped, and corrupted The Forbidden Garden. They felt it was unfair, that those Souls got to experience the luxury of beauty, while they only had water and darkness. No one knows how or when it ended, but there's possibly some Souls disguising themselves in fit realm, so they don't have to go back. Most history is lost in the Older Souls, 'cause time makes their memory slip. But, thankfully, some wrote such events in books, which is hidden in The Sacred Library, where most history or information on Souls is kept.
The Light Realm is for souls who had no chaos or evil in thou heart. Those are really rare. We call them Pure Souls. They get to gain access to The Sacred Library, and go on special missions. Those Souls are most trusted.
When someone dies, they forget who they were, and what they were. They still have knowledge on certain things. Like, what a book or heart is, how a human body looks, ect. Things like, their name or past, will be forgotten. That way, thou Souls will not have regrets, or feelings when coming to missing certain people close to them. Thou Souls gets to start anew, with new memories and new experiences. No one knows whom started this, nor whom is in charge currently of this society. All that people have written in books was that Angels were in charge of missions, so someone, or something, higher ranked than the Angels was in charge. Some have speculated that the one in charge of The Void is called 'Nul'. Nul means 'Void' in Roman. In a few books, some mention a ruler of Darkness by the name of Nul. The only realm with darkness is, of course The Void. Nothing has been written about the rulers of The Light Realm nor The Forbidden Garden. But here's how you can view the 3 realms: The Void is in the bottom, The Forbidden Garden in the middle and The Light Realm at the top. There's no exact count on how many there are in each realm, but it's rumoured to be sectioned, so not everyone is in the same area. Mainly, writing about the realms when you're not in the Light Realm goes against the rules, so thou souls who write about it can face serious charges. There's also no count on if any have faced any of these charges.
(The protagonist doesn't know all of this yet.)
