Chris woke up in a strange place. It smelled musty, and it was very dark. He could feel that he still had his backpack on because the sword's crystals were stabbing into his back. Chris shifted to try and get a better position, but it was no use because Evan was shining a light into his eyes. “Hello there sleepy head.” “Ow! Why did you have to yell?” Chris asked quietly. “I didn’t.” Evan said, now walking away. “You’ve never told me your name.” “And you’ve never told me where we are.” Chris responded. “Well, I’ll go first then.” Evan said, paused then continued, “We are at the Tavern of GoodWill. I have a good reputation here, so we get free stuff. Just don’t eat the rice, it went bad 3 months ago. Now it's your turn.” Chris rolled his eyes, “My name is Chris, I wor…" Chris paused. "Used to work at the castle.” “Ah that's pretty cool. Well, im gonna get a water, you want anything?” “I’ll take a…” Chris stopped, “What do they have?” “Everything, everything.” Evan said, pointing the light under his chin. “I’ll just go with you.” Chris shook off the tiredness, got up and followed Evan, who opened the door “Watch out, they’re a… hefty crowd.” Chris nodded and walked out the door and into the noisy hallway.
Laughing, yelling and talking was all Chris could hear. “What in the world?” “Oh, it gets worse.” Evan chuckled. Chris was now fully awake. They rounded a corner and Chris saw where all the noise was coming from, and why it was a tavern.
There were about 20 tables, all of them full. At each table there were people of the same species. Some were dwarfs, some were wizards and many others. There was also a bar, with only one seat that wasn't taken. “Ah, I see you see my seat.” Evan whispered to Chris. Chris glanced at him. “How come you get your own seat?” Chris asked. “It was hard earned. Maybe someday you can get your own seat.” Evan said as he walked into the crowd. Chris tried to follow, but couldn't. He eventually found himself at a table, everyone was in hooded robes, there were multiple knives on the table, and lots of bread. The bread was very shiny. He grabbed a roll, and no one seemed to notice. The roll was still warm, and when Chris grabbed it, butter came out from it. He took a bite, and it tasted like cinnamon, and super creamy butter. One of the men noticed Chris eating the roll, “Hey, you gonna pay for that?” He yelled across the table. “No.” Chris said quietly. “What was that?” Chris looked up, stared him straight in the eyes, “No I'm not, so deal with it.” Chris had no idea where that came from, but he thought that he was going to take this as a new beginning. “I don’t think I heard you correctly, did you say, you’re NOT going to pay for it.” The man yelled in a very gruff voice. “No, i'm not.” Chris yelled back, at this point the entire tavern was quiet. The man jumped on the table, knife in hand. Chris stared at him. The man yelled “Get up and fight me!” Chris wanted to talk back, but his body sent him onto the table. The man clutched his knife even tighter, Chris grabbed his sword, which was glowing red violently. The man's knife was very thick, it was almost as big as Chris' sword, but the man himself was much bigger than Chris. Chris just stared at him as he lunged towards him, Chris clenched his sword hoping he would trip or something. Chris felt himself moving, but Chris didn’t feel like he was moving. Chris opened his eyes, and the man was on the ground. The tavern was even more quiet than it had been. The man slowly got up and yelled, “You’ll pay for that! I will have my revenge!” Then ran out of the tavern. Chris had no idea what happened but he knew he had done something. Evan ran up to him, “How did you do that?” “Do what?” Chris answered in confusion. Evan looked at him confused. “Ok, we're going back to the room.”
When they arrived at the room, Evan had Chris sit down on the bad across from him. Evan turned on a light with his staff, “Do you have a voice in your head, Chris?” Chris looked at him, “No, should I?” “No, ok, i'm going to do some tests.” Evan raised his staff, and pointed it at Chris, “What is your first thought when I pointed my staff at you? And be honest.” Chris thought for a moment, “I guess it was to dodge, but I know that it’s you, what would you do to me, right?” Chris said awkwardly. “Hmm.” Evan responded. “Ok, i’m going to punch you, just accept it, it won't be very hard.” Evan wound back his arm to prepare to hit Chris. Evan swung to hit Chris but before Chris knew it, he had Evans fist, in the palm of his hand. Chris was now standing up, looking down at Evan. “Huh, ok. You have advanced reaction time. Now, take off your sword.” Chris did so, setting the sword down on the bed. “I’m going to punch you again, accept it, again.” Evan said pulling his arm back and hitting Chris, “Ow! You said it wouldn't be very hard!” Chris cried. “Oh suck it up.” Evan replied. “Oh, one more thing, do you remember blocking my punch?” Evan asked, but he already knew the answer.
