Lightening flashed just to reveal a dark empty doorway. The guy with the knife was gone, like he had never been there.
I could feel the adrenaline kick in and that delicious shiver go down my back.
I love the thrill of the unknown.
Had I just met the one I have been seeking. Is he the one?

Power cuts in this area are nothing new. Especially in this weather. A tree or branch falling across a power line could mean power outage for several days.
I love the darkness. There is something so beautiful and all encompassing about it.
My mobile as usual is not with me. So I stepped back and searched for the candle lying on the side table by the door.
Just then a flash of lightning reveals for a brief second the silhouette of the person holding the wrench still standing on my porch.
I can feel the excitement right down to my bones.
Has the one I have seeked just walked upto my door? I can't help but wonder. Is he the one?
I quickly striked the match and lit up the candle. Holding the lit candle in one hand I once more stepped to the door.
The breeze was trying to snuff out the tiny bit of light. I cupped my other hand to prevent that from happening. But the small flame was fluttering dangerously.
Just then the stranger stepped forward and cupped his free hand around the other side of the flaming wick.
This brought us both toe to toe with each other.
We both looked up at the same time.
He truly is beautiful. And the reflection of the golden flame in his mesmerizing eyes was just like in my fantasies.
I see a drop of rain drip from the hood of his parka, right on to his smooth pale cheek, just to run down to the corner of his perfect mouth. I wondered what would happen if I leaned forward and touched my lips with his. Sipping that drop of rain water.
He suddenly cleared his throat dragging me out of my fantasy. How annoying.
"Excuse me, can I please use your phone? My car just stalled right down the road and I was wondering if there is a mechanic I can call?" The stranger asked.
"You could find a mechanic in the village across the river. That village is the closest to this place, around 10-12 miles away. The town closest on this side of the river is atleast 25 miles away if not more." I replied.
I watched his face in amazement. My words didn't seem to make him feel disappointed or frustrated or desparate. If anything his expressions were contemplative, laced with what looked like a barely contained thrill.
Yes this is the man I have been looking for. I can't help the slight smile curving my lips.
"Would you like to come in?" I ask.
~~~xxx~~~
He is smiling I noticed. It's not the 'I am happy' kinda smile.
More like a 'cat who ate the cream' kind of smile. Dangerous. Mesmerizing.
The other thing that had me captivated was the tip of his tongue which snaked out to run over his bottom lip, making it glisten in the golden light of the candle.
I wonder how it would feel to have that tip run over my lips.
His simple question broke into my thoughts, bursting my dream bubble. A surge of anger just shot through me.
