Chapter Nine : Project Drill

Rex's PoV

Today's mission didn't go as planned but at least that dumb pink tower is finally gone. I also gotten a few new recruits. Over all it was a semi successful mission. As I lead my new workers back to base it was starting to get dark. I didn't mind, I actually prefer the dark. I also had a natural night vision which comes in very handy. Sadly my recruits didn't so it took longer to get to base then I have liked. I've assigned them each a job around the hide out and they all quickly got started. I headed straight to the meeting room. There was no time to rest I have to get this plan moving forward. Even with the set back of not having that peace of the ToL I still have to keep going.
"Tarasphere! Scarlet! Meet me at the meeting room in five minutes! Theres something I need to talk to you about something! Don't be late!"
I said loudly on the loudspeaker. I need the two of them for this up coming plan. I sat waiting patiently for the pink sphere and hexagon to come. Seven minutes later the two of them finally arrived. What should have I expected their never on time.
"We made it sir."    "Yeah we're here."
"Is there a reason why the both of you are two minutes late?"    "Ummmm..."
"Well anyway I brought the two of you to tell you something. Me and the professor has been working on a project for a while. "    "What is it?"    "You will know when its complete. What I want you to do is when the 'project' is done for you to watch it in till the night of the full moon then when we start the real plan."      " So you want us to keep a eye on your little science project untill the full moon next week."     "Pretty much. It should be easy for the two of you. But promise me this do not let the heros get to it. If they do they can use it against us. And we don't want that. Do we?" "Ok sir we'll make sure that won't happen."       "Oh you better or else there will be dire consequences. You two can go now, I'll contact the two of you once project: drill is complete."
The two of them traded looks then left. I hope the two of them are going to take their upcoming new job seriously. This could be the difference between victory and failure for this plan. Thinking of project: drill I should check on the professor, see how much longer till the project is done. Also to make sure he's doing his job this time.

Tara's PoV

Me and Scarlet headed outside after getting the word from Rex about this new project: drill.
" So project: drill huh. It's most obviously going to be some kind of drill. We're not dumb. And what's the point of keeping a eye on a nonliving object. It's not like the heros can just easily pick up a drill like it's a feather. Right?" " This is Rex we're talking about. The crazy mutant flower master mind. It must be more then just some normal drill Scarlet. And if that's the case we should make sure that the heros don't get it. Also you heard what Rex said if we don't do this job right there will be consequences."      " For all we know he trying to mess with us so we won't be slacking off."      "But what if he's not. Remember Jerry?"     "Oh I remember. Rex got mad at him for sleeping on the job to many times. He then locked Jerry in the great freezer for a week. When Jerry got out he was living snowshape." "Yeah he was a complete icicle. He could barely move for a while after that."       "Hay but look at the bright side he did get some cool Ice abilities after that."       "Yeah after getting a extra dosage darkness serum right after he got out of that freezer."   "Oh....right."      "The thing is that we're Rex's number Ones if we mess up in this mission.... we'll most likely get something so much worse then a week in a freezer."
Scarlet went quite and looked up at the nights starry sky. I did the same. The cool spring wind blew through my long black hair. A lot has happened with in these past few hours and it's nice to just sit down and look up at the stars.
"Hay Tara remember when we were kids, like way before the pink corruption. When we used to go to the island with the Tree of Life and look at the stars leaning against the tree."
"I remember, but that's in the past now. We're no longer young pures. We're older and stronger now and we have a important job to do."   "Oh Tara stop with this tuff girl act. Your my best friend and I know you the best. I know you hate working for Rex. I don't like working for him either. I also know that you miss you know who."
   I hung my head low. Just mentioning you know who made me feel awful. It just reminded me how weak I was back then. Not even being able to save my own twin brother.
"I have to work with Rex just for now then we can get our wishes and we can get him back."        "Tara stop being rapped up in the pass. Like you said we changed."        "But it was my fault hes gone. He could have been right here with us enjoying himself."         "Tara it's not your fault. I know its not."        " YES IT IS!  I Was Weak.  He was Right Infront of Me and I Did Nothing to Save him From his Fate!  ....I'm going home if you want to join me go ahead, but I'm not gonna wait for you or slow down."         I stood up and and quickly walked away.  Shortly after Scarlet followed with her heeled boots klip klopping along with each of her steps. I knew she would follow. We're best friends after all.
