LET'S GET ONE THING STRAIGHT: Rosemary Potts is and always will be against the entire concept of crushes. The whole reddening of the cheeks and the biting of the lip is just not her cup of tea (and not just because her lips get chapped way too easily). And, don't get her wrong, she loves butterflies —— as long as they're not doing something as profoundly cliche as fluttering up a storm in her stomach. Those butterflies? Yeah, she can do without them.
Oh, god, and do not get her started on the whole pounding heart thing that feels like she's going on the drop of a rollercoaster right after running a marathon. Because, first of all, Rosie hates cardio. And second of all, that feeling is annoying. Like, more annoying than Finn helping her study and mispronouncing all the vocabulary words on her SAT flash cards. Yeah. That annoying.
In the beginning, she could deal with it. Back when she thought it was just a fleeting feeling that she'd never have to endure again —— at least not until the next time she rewatched Aladdin and was reminded of how much Mena Massoud's smile makes her swoon. Sure, it was foreign back then, and new things are always scary (especially to someone like Rosie, who has had the same lucky binder for eleven years and only owns five pairs of socks). But the very idea that it's just a crush, and crushes don't last forever was enough for her to hold onto the hope that she'd be over it in no time, no matter how cute Peter Parker's face is. Though, in a sense, she supposes she had been right.
