The real art of conversation is not only to say the right thing at the right place but to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting moment.

As I walked through the school doors my confident strides immediately became timid and I made sure to focus on the floor like a nerd would. I walked to my locker and grabbed all my books for the first lesson and walked in the direction towards it making sure not to accidentally bump into anyone. This place called school annoyed the hell out of me mainly because I had to become a totally new person as to not draw attention to myself. The only person who made attending school bearable was my best friend Elena.

"Ivy!" a high pitched voice yelled for me which made me turn my head sharply and glare in her direction.

"Yes, Elena. " I answered her

"Don't look at me like that, I missed you." I just chuckled and embraced her slender form, genuinely happy to see her. We took our seats and caught up with whatever was new in her life not that I was listening for the most part.

Elena and I had been friends ever since my mom and I moved here two years ago. She was the first person to explain all the ropes of the whole school, she defended me from all the bullies and I appreciated her for it. She's a breath of fresh air, away from all the guns and drugs that I deal with, in my life out of school. Her protection and her friendship enabled me to hide my real identity and personality, if she knew what I could do to those bullies that believed I was some weak little girl she'd really be surprised.

"So I was thinking we could have a sleepover at my house, watch movies, do our nails and catch up." Elena spoke up as the rest of the our peers filled up the classroom.

"You always fall asleep during the movies so I'll basically be watching them on my own." I replied

"I'll drink some coffee or energy drinks. Just please come over after school and I'll have all your favourite snacks ready." she insisted giving me her puppy dog eyes.

"Okay fine, you had me when you mentioned my favorite snacks. I'll come around 7 o'clock because there are some errands I have to take care of first after school. " I replied and shifted my focus towards the teacher and began taking down notes.

"So you'll be put into groups of two for this project and it is due in two weeks." Mr Joe announced, with that he had all of our undivided attention.

"I hope it's not a lame project." Elena whispered to me but her comment received no reply due to my focus.

"There will be no switching of partners and if you don't meet the deadline, I will not accept your work. Stella Hunter and John Anderson , Elena Marcello and Jack Jones, Andrew Smith and Vanessa Joe , Ivy Cruz and Hunter Davis....."

I leaned back and listened closely to all the details about the project and while doing so I made sure to take some notes. I couldn't help but wonder who my partner was because everyone was seated next to theirs but me.

As soon as Mr Joe was done explaining the classroom door opened and a tall guy strolled into the room. He stood at the center of the room, looked around for a moment and then walked towards Mr Joe's direction with confident strides as if he wasn't late. They spoke for a while and he was pointed in my direction. He strolled towards me with he's head held high and didn't once bother to look at anyone else around him.

I lifted my head and caught everyone with theirs mouths ajar staring at us ,well more specifically him when he finally sat down. He possessed the typical bad boy vibe, he's confidence radiated off of him in waves and he's facial expression gave away no emotion. He's dark brown hair fell to his face in curls, he's features were hard and he's face gave away nothing.  He was tall, lean and his tanned skin made me envy him.
