A Broken Friendship

Swiftclan Visits? Chapter 2

Jinx and Lynxpaw glared at eachother, his eyes revealing strong emotions. She looked away and returned to the apprentice den feeling his glare still on her. Does he know about yesterday?

Lynxpaw curled up in her nest next to Coldpaw who slept silently. She closed her eyes but the dark thoughts crept to her. Jinx had Swiftclan's scent on him. Did he kill the apprentice?

She ignored the dark thoughts and fell into a dreamless sleep.

Lynxpaw heard Coldpaw calling her name, telling her to wake up. She perked her ears hearing other voices aswell, but those voices where filled with threats and anger. She lifted her head looking at Coldpaw in confusion. Coldpaw looked towards the entrance of the apprentice den; she followed his gaze.

"Come on Lynxpaw," Coldpaw whispered and made his way out of the den, Lynxpaw lingered for a moment before following him. She tried her best not to turn tail and run but she didn't want to leave Coldpaw alone. They know! They're going to kill Coldpaw then you!

Redstar and Heatherstar, Swiftclan's leader, argue back and forth. She swiped Redstar on the muzzle. Savageclan cats yowled in outrage, unsheathing their claws. "Im going to slice her ears off," Fallensoul growled. "Not if I get to her first," Galaxydust spat.  Coldpaw and Lynxpaw pressed themselves against the stone wall that guarded their camp.

Redstar raised her voice, "Savageclan get these foxhearts out of our camp!"

Savageclan warriors stepped forward surrounding the Swiftclanners. Lynxpaw and Coldpaw where pushed forward bumping into an apprentice who locked eyes with Coldpaw, "You," he spat. "It was your scent on my brother's body," his eyes filled with hatred and disgust. Coldpaw trembled but didn't look away. "Mark my words, I'll be back you peice of mouse dung," the apprentice threatened before disappearing within the crowd of Swiftclanners. Savageclan gave threats at Swiftclan who knew better than to attack a group of cats twice their size. Coldpaw looked back at Lynxpaw their eyes mirrored eachother.

After Swiftclan left Redstar gave a speech about Swiftclan's disrespect.  Lynxpaw barely heard a word, her ears where clogged with fear. Its your fault. Its your fault. Its your fault!

She let fear take control as she stared at her paws. Coldpaw sat next to her, his expression unclear. After the meeting cats returned to their regular duties,  but a few cats guarded the entrance in case Swiftclan had secound thoughts. Lynxpaw went on border portal with Scatteredhope, Forgottensoul, Omenshard and her mentor Croweye. Only one apprentice was allowed on portals because of Swiftclan's rude visit.

That night Lynxpaw had dreams of Swiftclan attacking Coldpaw as Lynxpaw could helplessly do nothing. She screamed in her dream,"Kill me not him!" But they didnt hear her over Coldpaw's desperate cries for help.

She woke up from time to time always checking to see if Coldpaw was breathing, he too was have trouble sleeping. Lynxpaw decided to slip into Coldpaw's nest hoping to stop his constant whimpering.  Instantly Coldpaw seemed to calm down, his breathing slowed and his whimpering stopped. Lynxpaw also fell asleep, this time dreamless.

Only one apprentice lingered awake in the corner of the den as he watched the two, snorting in disgust before returning to a darkness which only he possessed.
