the shadow

it was a lovely night at the house that night mr and mrs darling were getting ready to go to a party that night at the house next door

meanwhile nana was helping the children get ready for bed in one corner of the room wendy and john were dancing pretending to be mother and father while nana was trying to get micheal to take his bath.

I won't take a bath nana I won't and I won't go to bed he shouted

mrs darling was talking to mr darling about a boy she saw in the window the other night

she said she saw him come through their window when he did she let out a scream that was when nana returned from her night out she growled at the boy but he manged to escape but not before she ripped his shadow off

she explained to mr darling that the boy was not alone but he was with a little light no bigger then your fist.after she told the story mr darling laughed thinking she was overtired that night but then she showed him the shadow which she carefully rolled up in the drawer he almost believed her story.

as the children were getting ready for bed nana jumped on mr darling getting hair all over his new troushers.nana look at what you have down he shouted making nana go into her kennel

poor nana said the children

yeah poor her said mr darling angry that the children cared about the dog and not nana

all you care about is that dog he shouted

the only place for a dog is tied up in a yard come out nana he called but she refused to come out of her kennel then mr darling using coaxing words to get her out.

he dragged nana out of the nursery and chained her up to a tree in the yard suddenly realizing what he had done he felt bad but he could not give in to his family.so that night in a very long time nana was not up in the nursery to watch over the children

poor nana said mrs darling nana was barking outside she is upset because she is chained up but Annabelle was wiser that is not nana's unhappy bark she said it it her bark when she smells danger.mrs darling was worried about leaving the children without nana to watch them.

the night lights will keep you from harm she told the children

she kissed each of the children and she sang them a lullaby

tender shepard tender shepard let me help you count your sheep

one in the meadow two in the garden three in the nursery fast asleep fast asleep

dear night lights please keep my children safe tonight she said then she left the room then she and mr darling left for the party just as they left the stars who friends of peter pan whispered go now peter they said.

meanwhile back in the nursery a bright light darted from one place to another but you see it was not really a light it was a fairy the size of your fist.her name was tinker bell she was a tiny fairy dressed in a green dress

just then the window blew open and a young boy floated in

he was dressed all in green and landed softly on the nursery floor

tinker bell he called out where are you please help me find my shadow

tinker bell tinkled something in fairy language that only peter understood

she said that the shadow was in the drawer when he opened up the drawer he did'nt notice that he locked tinker bell up in the drawer

he was glad to have his shadow back but how could he reattach the shadow back he went into the bathroom and tried to stick it on with soap then he tried to lay on the shadow

upset that he could not get his shadow back on he sat down on the floor and cried
