"Get up! Get up!" i heard, i hopped out of my bed, the slight pitter patter  i heard when i went to sleep was now 50 raindrops hitting a tiny surface in on second, I could barely see.

"We gotta get out, the storm has gotten worse, we need to get to the hill!" James shouted to me, he was holding Jack's hand who was only 8, he grabbed my hand and led me outside but it was no better, how could we ever get to the hill? James handed me a pencil, i put it to my Temple and thought.

"This is the only option, it's for our lives, rip out the door and we'll float on it to the hill and climb it." I said, James went to the door and ripped it out, we placed it on where the road should be, the current pushed us to the hill when we all got on.

"I wish I had your mind Lex," Jack said to me, looking up at me, he reached his hand for mine, I grabbed it and squeezed it.

"I won't let go of your hand ti'll this is over, OK?" I said very seriously to him.

"Okay." He said, looking deeply into my ugly eyes.

"G-guys?" James asked, we looked at him, he was pointing at something so our heads followed his finger. I gasped and covered Jack's eyes, even if he was nine years younger than me, he didn't reach two digits and that is when you learn how cruel the world is.

A house was being torn from the ground, it was in front of us, now beside us and now, behind us. Crack Creak. The house tour apart and summoned a big wave, I held Jack's hand tighter. People in my village said that I was brave but I was the opposite, I was stupid, ugly and scared but today, I was going to save my siblings.

"W-what about f-father?" Jack looked at me.

"He is already at the v- I mean hill," I said quickly, trying to sound convincing.

"Ok, as long as we stay together!" Jack said happily.

"Get on me Jack, quickly." I decided that I would follow James to safety and Jack would be on my shoulders. James swam to a house that was very stable looking while screams of help pierced my ears.

"Jack, hold on to me tightly," I shouted through the sound of rain hitting glass and metal, the screams got louder. I tried, with all my might to swim to James, his hand was held out, he was in the house.

"Alex!" James called, I was being pushed too far away from James by the current, I was making my way through the water but I wasn't getting any closer to James. I felt Jack grab me tighter.

"I love you Lex" He said quietly, I felt his grasp soften. "Say good-bye to James for me," I started to swim in place, Jack let go but I held his arm tightly.

"Jack!" I called, tears streamed from my eyes.

"Why are you doing this?" Jack asked.

"You said you will never let go," Jack said.

"Yes, I'll never let go!" I shouted, my eyesight was getting foggy, I could barely hear James calling me.

"You'll never let the memory of me go, but my hand will be separated, I'll see you in heaven," Jack said, tears coming from his eyes.

"Jack, no, we can still live together," I said, trying to stay afloat.

"No, you will live a happy life, marry a beautiful man," Jack said.

"I-I never told you about that..." I said, something flew over me and crashed into a house, the house that James was in.

The piece of metal hit the window of the house James was in, I heard his scream disappear.

"JAMES!" I shouted, pain came to my left right eye. I wailed in pain.

"J-Jack?" I screamed through the pain.

"N-no not yo-" I panicked and pressure hit my head and everything went black.

*time skip brought to you by- me, I can tell you how much you are gay in percentages*

I opened my left eye, I could see a piece of wood below me, my right eye hurt and would not open.

"Where am I?" I whispered to myself, I sat up, now on my knees, I could feel sand through some object on me, what were they called? Oh yeah, clothes. who said that, was that me, my voice sounds weirrd... I looked around, now on my feet, I was on an unfamiliar island covered in trees of all types -palm, spruce, a sycamore, possibly basswood and maybe more- and other plants, -grass spread across the dirt, little plants surrounding trees, if I could see the spruces, they would probably have ferns- there was a tall hill, tall enough to be a mountain, clouds surrounded the mountain so the top was unseen, were clouds edible?

"Now to make a checklist in my brain, first, open my right eye, second, find out how I got here, third, figure out who I am, fourth, find freshwater, fifth, find (non-poisonous) food, sixth, find shelter. I'll add more later..." I mumbled to myself. Now to open my eye. I closed my eyes, maybe if I open one, the other opens.

Something flashed before my eyes, I was holding a... Book, and the... The cover was brown, it was filled with- uhh... pages, a voice broke the silence.

"Amnesia is a deficit in memory caused by brain damage or disease, but it can also be caused temporarily by the use of various sedatives and hypnotic drugs. The memory can be either wholly or partially lost due to the extent of damage that was caused." The voice said, was it female or male? The voice sounded like mine and was a deep tone...? I opened my eye, trying to open my right eye, everything was kind of foggy when further away.

Then suddenly it hit me, no, two things hit me. A bird crashed into my head, it landed on my head and stayed there, I could see a combination of white and black feathers and light blue feathers on my head. I felt something sharp pierce the top of my skull.

"I was thinking bird!" I shouted at the bird, wait, bird. If an animal is alive, I will be, even if I don't find freshwater, I can drink the blood of animals! So Big Brain, was Big Brain my name? Where else have I heard it? I think that I need to know its gender first, maybe I could find a name that is gender-fluid! Like... Alex! I'm remembering things already.

"OK bird, your name is Alex now, I won't kill you but you can lead me to water and other animals, food as well," I said, the bird squawked happily, as if to understand me.
