"Yeah, he's coming over soon." I said to Kaitlyn. "Ah! Tell me everything." She said through the phone. I was waiting for Alex to come over while I talked with Kaitlyn. "For sure." I replied with a smile as I played with a string between my fingers. *Ding Dong* "He's here!" I said. "Well, I'll call you later then have fun!" She said. With a smile I hung up and walked downstairs towards the front door. I opened it after seeing it was Alex from the peep-hole. When I opened it Alex picked me up and spun me around as he hugged me. "How is my princess doing today?" He asked as he pecked my lips. I instantly smiled and replied with "Amazing! How is my prince doing today?" "He's doing great." He said with a smile. He hugged me by the waist from behind and walked up with me upstairs causing us to do a waddle movement.

"Alex! Put me down!" I screamed. "Not until you say it!" He yelled back with a grin. "Fine! You are strong!" I said with a giggle. He brought me down and kissed me. Our lips moved is a rhythm, Alex bit my lip softly and tugged on it asking for an entrance- which I was about to give him- but my phone rang. I pulled away from him causing him to grunt in annoyance. I picked up the phone after blowing him a kiss and said "Hello?" "Hi. Sweetie *sniffle* your Grandad just had a... oh god... he had a heart attack. The doctors are trying to stabilize him.. b-but they don't think it'll work. We're at the hospital at 74th avenue" My mother said before breaking into sobs. I felt a stinging in my eyes as my phone fell out of my hands. "Baby? What's wrong?!" Alex asked concern in his voice. I didn't reply- I couldn't- I tried and tried but my voice wouldn't come. I erupted into waterworks as Alex kept asking me what was wrong each time with more concern. "M-My g-g-grandad d-ie..." I said but I couldn't bring myself to say the rest. Alex's eyes widened and he grabbed me closer to him. "Ali I'm so sorry!" He said. "I-it's ok-kay." I said through sobs. "Where is he?" He asked. "7-74th av-v-enue." I said as tears rolled down my cheeks. "Let's go." He said holding my hand and guiding me downstairs.
**In The Car
I bit my tongue trying to hold back a sob threatening to come out. I looked at Alex with tear stained cheeks. "Do you think he'll be okay?" I asked. "Of course he will!" He asked as he place his hand on my thigh. The corners of my mouth twitched at how amazing he was. I wondered why bad things always happen to good people.
** At The Hospital
Alex and I rushed in the hospital and searched for my mom in the waiting room. "Mom!" I shouted. "How is he? Do you know anything? Is he a-alive?" I asked my voice cracking in the end. I couldn't imagine my life without him. He always cheered me up and told me stories about his childhood. "Sweetie!" My mom said as she came and hugged me tight "He's in a coma, the doctor's think he won't make it but I believe papi will be okay, he's a strong man." Mom said as I took in her appearance. She had mascara streaks coming down her cheeks, puffy eyes, and he hair was a mess- probably from running her hands through it. Alex hugged me from behind and whispered calming words in my ear. A doctor came out and said "Ms. Natale?" "Yes that's me." mom said as she wiped her tears away and stood up. "Please follow me." He said. Alex and I stood up and followed the doctor. "I'm sorry to say but, we think Mr. Richards isn't going to last more than tonight. We are letting you talk to him now but he is in bad condition and might not answer." He said. There goes my heart. I cried my ass off as I turned and buried my head in Alex's chest. Thank god I wasn't wearing makeup. At that moment I saw a flashback of the time my grandmother, Gina (nickname) died. I can't imagine not having Grandpa around.
We walked in and immediately heard the beeping of the heart machine. I ran towards him and held his arm. "Granps don't leave us!" I said. "I'm sorry A.C but my time has come. I'll finally be with Gina after all." He said with a weak smile. "No! Please grandpa don't leave me I need you." I said as tears flowed down my face. "Don't cry sweetheart, just know that I'll always love you." "I'll always love you too grandpa." I said with a sad smile. "Come here." He said as he motioned slowly for me to lean closer. I did as he said and leaned in to him. "That boy's a keeper." He whispered in my ear. I smiled and nodded. He squeezed my hand and then talked to my mom for what seemed like a minute before he started coughing and the heart machine accelerated. And just like that is beeped flat. I ran towards grandpa's bed and hugged him. "No!" I cried. "Come back!" I yelled as tears fell from my- now probably red- eyes. Nurses and Doctors poured in the room as Alex tried to pry me from him. He hugged my to his chest as I cried. "Shh princess. It's alright." He whispered as he drew soothing circled on my back.
**A few hours later
When we got home from the hospital I had cried my ass off. I was walking as Alex hugged me from the side. We walked towards the front door of the house and opened it. My mom went upstairs to her room because she needed to be alone. I would comfort her but I need comforting so I don't think I'll do any good. I snuggled on the couch with Alex as he ran his hands through my hair. He kissed my forhead gently and wiped my tears away. "Go to sleep baby." He said as he once again brushed my hair with his hands. A tiny sob escaped my lips as I closed my eyes. Soon darkness overcame me and I fell into a restful sleep.
